Even after this unpleasant encounter with Thomas, he was still in a foul mood until he saw Gordon, Henry, and Maud resting in the yard. The three big engines' expressions perked up the instant they saw him puff in. "JAMES!!!" The three cried, gleefully. James' mood brightened visibly as he heard them all shout in unison and he puffed over to them, wearing a big smile.

"There's our boy!" Gordon exclaimed. "It's you, you're here!"

"And here I am!" James replied, a twinge of pride in his voice.

Gordon and Henry whistled with delight that their friend had come back.
