Description
The Large Prairies were designed by Churchward and were an integral part of his standardization policy he began implementing at the turn of the century. Beginning with the 3150 class, the Large Prairies were used on all types of traffic throughout the GWR system. Collett and later Hawksworth developed their own varieties, the 5101 and 6100 classes, all of which survived to the end of steam on the Western Region of BR. No 3150s are preserved, but large numbers of 5101s and one 6100 are preserved.
