Sir Topham Hatt often brings new engines to the Island when he needs extra motive power. Salty was one such engine, but one thing about him was special. He was a dockyard diesel and that meant in his day he had heard and told many riveting tales of the sea. Naturally, he was excited about coming to the Island of Sodor, as of course its geography meant it was surrounded on all sides by the sea.
