Description
Bringing up the second half of the Worsdell brothers, here are two designs built under the auspices of Thomas William Worsdell's younger brother, Wilson. Seen here are a J26 0-6-0 and an A6 4-6-2 tank engine. The J26s, in typical NER fashion, were freight engines and built in 1904. They formed the backbone of the North Eastern and later LNER mineral fleets alongside its subsequent descendant , the J27,as well as the Q5,6, and 7s, O1s, and later BR standard 9fs and WD Austerities. The A6s were mixed traffic engines, and originally built as 4-6-0 tank engines in 1907, the only standard gauge 4-6-0 tank engine class in England, but were rebuilt as 4-6-2Ts between 1914 and 1917. None of either class are preserved. I used parts from, as usual,Related content
