Description
The Wirral Railway was a small commuter system on the Wirral Peninsula of England, but it was large enough to design its own locomotives. Among the line's motive power fleet were three 4-4-4 tank engines. Number 14, seen above, was built by Beyer, Peacock, and Co of Manchester in 1903 for the line. It, along with the rest of the railway's locomotives, were inherited by the LMS in the 1923 Grouping Act, though with the advent of Scrap and Build Number 14 and all other Wirral Railway locomotives were scrapped from 1924 onward.Related content
