Duke was uncoupled from the coaches and he hurried up the line to where Albert was left stranded. The driver had since thrown out Albert's fire and was doing everything he could to cool him down. "Perhaps you should've listened to your crew for once." He sighed, brows furrowing. "Just wait until the manager finds out, he's sure to be displeased!" And he was when he found out the next morning.

"It was those wretched trucks! They held back and made a bad situation worse!" Albert said, defensively. "We could've managed just fine were it not for them!"

"You could've managed had you listened to your driver and filled your tanks, as I'm told." Said the manager. "And as a result, the inspector tells me your firebox crown has melted!"

"I...must apologize, sir." Albert said, meekly. "It won't happen again."

"You're right, it certainly shall not, and we shan't be mending you! Maybe the other engines will learn from your example! Perhaps you can be more useful to this railway by being cannibalized for spares! Good day to you!" Even Duke was shocked when he heard the manager say that to Albert.
