I was never much of a rock (let alone metal) music fan. I actually remember disliking most "alternative" music, because I was more into rap and such. I was introduced to Slipknot by a friend of mine about 4 years ago. I was 16/17 years old at the time and the video he showed me was for the song "Duality". It was at that moment, when I saw the masks and the "force" in their performances, that turned me into a complete Slipknot addict. Day and night, I would listen to their songs and research their history and study the lyrics for hidden meanings and other meanings I could apply to my life. For exactly one year and a half, I came home from work everyday, locked myself in my room and do nothing but listen to Slipknot. All of their records, over and over and over again and they never got old, because I would always discover a new meaning to the lyrics that I could relate to. It was a very stressful and lonely period in my life.
Nearly all of my friends had vanished for some time, and I was having girlfriend problems and work and figuring out what to do with my life, etc...

..But I always knew that I could come home, put my headphones on and escape from the reality of those tough 2 years.
When I turned 18 and I managed to solve a lot of my problems, and I got my first tattoo. A couple of weeks later, I got my second tattoo, which was the "9-point star" logo of the band, and I plan on including the numbers 0-8 on each point.
To this day, their music seems to fit perfectly with what goes on with my life. All of this time, I've drawn unimaginable inspiration from their lyrics and, believe it or not, they have played a huge role in me deciding to pick up art again and have also inspired many of my art pieces.
I can safely and sincerely say that without them, I would certainly not be typing this right now. I would probably be dead.

When I heard that Paul passed away, it was like losing someone I've known for a long time. I've never been this close to crying in almost 6 years. But I can't even do that ... I just don't know what I should be feeling right now, and I figured that after all of these years of inspiration, this is the least I could do.

The picture itself is not perfect, I know.

And even if you've never heard Slipknot's music or you have and don't like them, or whatever the case, show some respect. No rude comments, please.

I know I'm not alone when I say that although we've never met, it still hurts.
