Description
Before Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich unleashed their cinematic turd called "Godzilla," there was going to be another version to be made. This was a concept which many Goji-Fans and Kaiju-Fanatics in general believe SHOULD have been given the greenlight instead.I especially loved the Godzilla concept sketches, pretty much a more streamlined and agile looking Godzilla. Basically the original Goji, only skinnier and more lean looking.
I tried my best to draw this Godzilla... to limited success. >_>
But still looks ok in my mind.

awesome, WAY better than GINO. The only gripe I could see with the original script, however, is the change of Godzilla;s origins. Also, the simplest way I could see the script get into theaters is to use another monster instead of Godzilla. This would eliminate the whole "created by an ancient civilization" rant, and also make the script be less of a remake, and more of a tribute to the classic Japanese monster movies.
With this concpet, I ended up creating Jiragon, a monster created by an ancient civilization using dinosaur genes and organic weaponry to defend the Earth from alien invasion.
You can read up on "JIRAGON" in my recent journals:

I, amazingly, didn't mind the whole "created by an alien civilization" thing. It fits with the story they tell.
I'm sure fans would've been much more forgiving about THAT one little change, had this been made, as opposed to the one we GOT, which had similar origins to the original, but changed just about EVERYTHING else about Godzilla.

Me either, the new origin added a great new twist to the story. But, yes, a LOT of fans would have complained about it, even though it fits into the story really well, and adds a great sense of logic to it.
While, yes, they would have forgiven the change we had there over the huge amount of changes in GINO, the only way I can ever see the film come to light is using a different monster. Not only does it take away the complaint about the origins, but it also takes away all of the copyright problems with Toho. Either way, i'd love to see that script be used in a movie
So, what do you think of my Jiragon concpet?

Thanks, glad to hear that. Really helps me to hear that when it comes to certain drawings like these. ^_^
