My C, maybe D-list villain Irontide. A legacy of failure that began in 1992.

The Irontide Armor was first made by Gene Borden, a petty hood working in a chop shop to pay off loan shark debts. A would-be mechanical whiz, not only did he find the work boring, but felt he'd NEVER climb out of the hole he had dug for himself. So he began to secretly work on an robotic suit with the intention of robbing banks. Unfortunately for Gene, his big debut in the field of crime also happened to bring him across the path of one Doctor Alexander Valiant. Riding off the high of committing a crime, he tried to take down the Herculean Superscientist.

He failed. Miserably.

Borden went to prison, and his suit was confiscated. Normally that would've been the end of the short-lived history of the armor. But Gene sold the schematics onto the Black Market to help hire a good lawyer at his trial (it didn't help BTW). That and eventually the original piece of Armor got conveniently 'lost'. So now like some 'Bad Penny' of the Underworld, the Irontide Armor, or some variation of it... has made numerous appearances since then.

The 'modus operandi' of these would-be successors is to take the armor, refurbish and upgrade it and then begin their own 'glorious' careers in the field of crime and villainy. Which usually end up squashed by whatever hero happens to be in the area at the time. The most recent version was defeated by rookie superhuman Reiko Winn Yates.

Have no idea who the guy in this sprite is meant to be, maybe Gene Borden escapes prison at some point? Maybe it's the guy who Reiko ended up trouncing, your guess is as good as mine.

Made this sprite using pieces of the Sentinel from the Capcom X-men games, Phobos/Huitzil from Darkstalkers, the human legs of Cody from Street Fighter Alpha 3, and PrimeOp's Abobo sprite mixed with the face of M. Bison. Helmet came from Iron Man.
