Description
DON'T PANIC! It's a wig. What you should be worried about is the smiley face... God help us, Erik smiling... This won't end well...Silliness aside though, these are a few doodles of Erik I made because of (yet again) boredom. My mind's been playing around with my personal version of Erik - yes, I see him like in the book - but I fear this may just be a bit too... Disneyish for proper phantom fanart. But oh well... One thing is certain: if Disney is to make their version of PotO, I want it to be in 2D! >:3
So all in all, a walkthrough from sketch to lineart and color. Hope you guys enjoy

Erik smiling can only mean one thing; Raoul is in trouble! Big, big trouble!
Or Christine proclaimed love.
The latter being not very likely, we'd better search out Raoul to see whether he doesn't have his neck stuck in a Punjab lasso right now.

Oh, I could only wish. From what I know, they're working on an adaption of Hans Christian Anderson's The Snow Queen, but I can still wish. After all, they did do a good job with The Hunchback of Notre Dame when it comes to dark stories.
... ignore me.

Superb. Perhaps a memory or thought is pleasing to him. The phantom smiling is not always so bad a sign.

I love these, you made him look kinda cute X3 It's also interesting to see the progress from the sketches to the colored versions. I prefer his mask to be white, though, it makes his face stand out more when he is clad all in black - but that's just my opinion
I want a Disney movie with exactly this Erik!

True. But staying close to the Leroux novel this is what my mind was able to come up with. I so want to get my hands on Susan Kay's Phantom though... I hear the mask is white there, is it not?
And yes: DISNEY! HEAR OUR PLEA! Phantom of the Opera... but in 2D

Oh, his mask originally was black, right? Forgot that, I think saw too much of the LW musical XD
I'm currently reading Kay's Phantom, the mask is indeed white there. Well, but since it is mentioned that his mother made his first mask from fabric, I can't help but imagine it like this while reading, even if a mask from a hard material fits far better in my opinion
Yay! It rhymes! and I totally agree. I never really liked Disney's computer-animated movies... the classical 2D style was much better.
I bet Disney would turn the story into a happy ending and make Christine and Erik live happily ever after (or at least make him less sad and hopeless a character, give him joy).
I don't see why there shouldn't be a Disney Phantom one day
