Description
"Finally, her eyes found the ladies who had spoken about the one mouse who could find her daddy. One of them, a fairly fancy lady in read cape and strange kind of hat on was nodding at a shorter and possibly older lady with a blue cape and bonnet on. The one in blue was speaking.“And of course, you also must know how he must be feeling now. He might think of himself as some sort of an inconvenience for us. Poppycock, of course, but Mr. Basil’s a proud man and all this is just…”

A Winter's Tale
a Great Mouse Detective fanfiction
Chapter 1 | A girl on the streets
summary:
AU - It is strange how one very small detail can change so much, for if one thing would have happened differently, this story needed not be told, for it would not have happened at all.
the chapters:
prologue | chapter 1 | chapter 2 | chapter 3 | chapter 4 | chapter 5

Let's set things straight: I absolutely LOATH the way this one came out. The only thing I like about this one is the random mouse walking pass Olivia. Apart from that - NOTHING!
But if I was to re-do everything I despised (which seams to happen all the more frequents ever since entering uni.) then I wouldn't finish till next year X3
I wish I had more energy...

This is quite a nice little piece. I really like the layout, and you show the weight and scale of the characters quite well. I agree, I also like the dapper gentleman walking in the back, he adds a certain "everyday" to the scene. I also like the street, and the foliage in the background, as well as the charming cart. This is a lovely little piece that has tight shading, wonderful weight in clothes, and a great feeling for the characters and how they fit in a "scene".
Great job!
This is a piece that has detail in the right places, and fades back just enough in the background not to lose the main chars.

Is the shade of black in the mouse man's coat really a shade or is it the ribbon of Olivia's tam-o-shanter hat?

I really like this, as well as the other chapter covers for your Winter's Tale story. I'm glad you posted these, else I'd have never found and read the story you wrote - which was fantastic by the way... and a big part of what inspired me to write my own TGMD stories. You're very talented and your work is a very standout part of the TGMD fandom for me. Thank you for sharing your creative works, as they are especially appreciated.

So I just finished reading this story.
I must say. I LOVE IT!
I stumbled over your pictures and started reading soon after. Everytime I came to the part of the story with the fitting image I looked at it for a moment and smiled.
My favorite part was in the following chapters when Basil comforts Olivia after her nightmare. Just amazing. Thanks for sharing this!

A friend of my wife's wrote and illustrated a children's book which got picked up and made it into the whole Barnes & Noble chain nationwide. We held her first book signing party here at our house. (I have it on video.) I don't know if she made much money from it - but that's what you should be doing. I've seen a lot of your work now - and you can do it. Hustle up a good children's story from someone here on dA and get to it!

It all looks fine to me, but I'll admit I do like how you drew that male mouse walking by. Olivia's uncertain expression looks so cute on her! It's lovely in my opinion!

Thank you
It was a bit rushed, so maybe that's why I'm not all that pleased with it. And it was done all in Photoshop, and whenever I sketch directly on the PC - it's a general rule that I MUST NOT be pleased with something

Me too! I always find something wrong with my art while people praise it left and right. They obviously see something that we don't!
