HA! Bet you didn't see that one coming
Been sketching mice for a while now .... DON'T ASK WHY!!!! I only know that I blame ALL I do these days on DISNEY!!!!
SO~ in honor of my now re-newed obsession for these little rodents (first time I had it when I watched Disney's The Rescuers and reached it's peak once I saw The Secret of NIMH) and the little chat I had with ~Bezanthume on the subject .... presenting little baby Basil (Disney's The Great Mouse Detective) who's offering you a smile in hopes that it will brighten your day

Fans of The Great Mouse Detective enjoy additional exploration of its characters in past, present and future environments. Past is supposed to be represented here, and it was done quite adorably of the famous detective of the mouse world.
Vision: Young Basil looks very comfortable and snug in his little bed of straw. It shows much warmth with the 'sunny' colors of yellow and gold, almost as if he's nestled in a protective corner of some countryside barn.
Originality: Artists draw characters in many stages of life all the time, and I have seen a drawing of Basil as an infant before, but to place him in this atmosphere is a new one for my viewing pleasure.
Technique: I like your background use of a faded floral pattern, though, you should have chose another color than yellow on the 'You haven't' 'your' and 'at all' words. It makes it a little hard to read. Your art style makes him look like a realistic mouse, or his body is shaped that way while his face resembles his animated self. It's interesting to note you gave him a pink nose rather than his usual reddish brown nose in the film. One could say it was pink when he was little and gradually got darker with age. I'm squinting a bit to see, but it looks as though you also gave him green eyes, an appropriate choice when his eyes are in fact green.
Impact: I get a warm and fuzzy feeling from this picture. It's a feel-good drawing, to make one smile or brighten their day. In a gloomy crime world of 19th century London, it's nice to see Basil drawn in a childhood moment of happiness.

Well, first off, this is a very sweet deviation. (It's been a long time since something on dA made me do the 'd'aww' noise outloud, which this did.)
I love the flowers and the shading of the background and that has to be the cutest baby Basil I've ever seen! (She made him look more like a real mouse as compared to the Disney rendition of the character, which is rare.)
I can tell that Mikomi out alot of work into this and it shows.
This is sure to put a smile on the face of everyone who sees this and I personally hope to see more great work from this artist in the future.

And I noticed Disney merchandise tends to be a bit more expensive then the advantage things ...
When I was in France I remember spending more on my day spent in Disneyland then during the whole other week spent in Paris. And that's saying something XD (especially since I was going like mad in almost every art gallery and museum in my way ... and I STILL haven't seen all I wished to see)

Great! Oh, I know. When I was in London, I had very little spending money with a lot in mind to buy. I wanted to buy both for myself and for all of my family members back home. It became impossible when the prices were so high. I was into Phantom of the Opera a lot and wanted to buy all kinds of merchandise at the Dress Circle store.
