I decided, with the help of my watchers, to stick to traditional work for a while. I was wondering what Superman would look like in my style... I can't say I'm a huge fan of Superman, but maybe that's why I was more interested in drawing him. I sort of feel like with fan art, or stuff I am a fan of anyway, I usually don't feel compelled to draw the thing, because it feels just right the way it is, and that's why I like it. But when it comes to things I'm not so much a fan of, it feels like an opportunity to see how I would do things differently. I still tried to keep the essence of the character the same though... If I really was gonna redesign him from scratch I wouldn't put the underwear on the outside... But if I just kept changing him however I wanted, then I don't think it would even be Superman anymore, so I'm gonna try to stick with a happy medium or the original character and my spin on it.Related content

I think you couldve did a more boxy pointy shape for the chin because of the Iconic Superman chin.

Also, Superman's eyebrows look almost like the wings off of the Batman: The Dark Knight symbol. Not sure why, but they just remind me of that, hahah!

Your style really comes alive with the cell shaded look of the markers. I can see the different line weights starting to appear and it's rad! I am partial to traditional w/ markers so I'm really digging this. Gratz!

I love his face soooooooo much! He looks hot! I also have no interest in Superman and american comic heroes in general, but you almost made me fangirl here! And that's actually a very interesting idea what you just said, I mean, try to draw characters that you actually don't like and turn into something you would like? May I steal this idea? Sounds like a good exercise to practice your own style.
Btw I know that you probably didn't care much about lineart/outline here, but I like how it was going in the face you drew. Maybe you should start looking for an inking/lineart style that enhances your drawing? I remember you were trying to make your sketches look more finished, a consistent lineart would definintely help you in that! I have been checking some mangas inking style and I realized that when the hair is very pointy, they usually enhance the beginning of the strand up and down but go softening up the line until the pointy edge forms. You can also try to do the opposite and enhance the pointy edge instead and go softening as you go to the rest of the line, but this is just one of many ways and ideas. You could try to play around with this in your lineart and maybe you will find something that fits your style just perfectly.

I actually don't mind the inking style I used for this one. It doesn't take too long, and looks ( to me ) to be presentable. I think the type of lines you are describing are what I would like to have eventually, but right now I don't think I have enough practice to do them well, so you still see they aren't so smooth. I will try to get better and make better inking!

took me a minute to notice but the S shape in his hair is such a great little addition!
and idk if its intentional but i like how his eyes look slightly girly? though i think maybe his face looks too feminine in the full body version? i blocked out the rest of his body with my hand and it sorta looks like it could be a womans face? its probably because of the pointy chin, and hes usually portrayed with a blockier jawline, or at least thats how i remember him though i dont know much about superman.
otherwise i think he looks super cool with all the pointyness!!

Hmm.... I see what you mean about the eyes, but I think I actually prefer it that way. I guess it's kinda like some anime guys who look pretty much like girls... I really like Sephiroth and Cloud Strife's eyes for example, and they have pretty girly eyes. But I'm glad you still like it!

I know how hard it is sometimes to take your own spin to certain things,
you want to make it fun but in a way that the character is easily recognizable,
in this way fan-art can be tricky
