Finished her! XD. I kinda got her detail to where I want it but I think I still need more practice
Hair is not as nice as I want it.
Time to make a new one! Pirate Dash, most likely since I kinda postponed that

To start off, let me state that I'm a notoriously nit picky critiquer, Don't take anything I say personally. Now onward to the critique. Vision originality, and impact are so low because there doesn't seem to be an objective to this piece. Here we have a pinkie pie, and nothing else, there is no context for the viewer to relate to in this scene, or lack of a scene I should say. You stated that you'll have a background for this soon, my suggestion is try to implement something that interacts with the subject of the piece, pinkie. For example, whatever background you decide to drop her in, give her a reason to be smiling with wide eyes. Doing this would likely fix every complaint I could possibly come up with.
I gave you 4 stars in technique because you are very proficient with shading and detail. You would have gotten 5 stars if not for just a few things. I'd have to suggest concentrating more on where to put the shading, specifically the muzzle area seems as if it doesn't have quite the same attention to detail that the rest of the shading does. The other thing I have to point out is that the back part of the mane is disproportionate to the front part of the mane. This is often a big problem with pinkie pie's hair specifically, a lot of people have difficulty with proportioning the two parts, myself included.
On a side note, I noticed that you got pretty detailed in the irises. I think in the future you might save time on the piece by excluding this, it took me a while to notice it, so your casual observer isn't likely to spot that. Now In a piece that has a frame of reference closer to the face, this would be a lot more noticeable and have a great impact.

For the iris part, that's a bit rude. I doesn't matter if anybody notices it or not, it's the beauty of it! Perhaps he wasn't looking for it to be noticed, I do agree on the mane part though.
But still, you should at least be a bit more thoughtful for the iris part. Telling them to stop doing that because it's not noticeable? Well, great, sorry that's it's not noticeable to you, but it's one of the things thatΒ shineΒ out the most to me and make the piece simple pop with color and cuteness.
If you had read the title, you would've seen this said Tablet PRACTICE. Not "Look at my Big Masterpiece!" but, "Practice" you can't expect every practice piece to be flawless.
I think your critique was more than harsh, but he requested critique and that's what he got.

EVERY piece for an artist is practice, every time an artist picks up a pencil, pen, brush, or pastel with the intent to create, they are practicing. I agree that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and my views may not reflect that of others. I also agree that I could have been nicer about my critique. But to dismiss something because it was labeled as "practice" is ignorant. Even in practice a good review can be critical to improvement.

And like I said, it's nothing personal, I realize it's just for practice. I'm not here to berate anyone's talents, i'm here to help (even if that means stepping on some toes.) And I assure you that even though I may seem like an ass when critiquing i'm actually a very nice person ._.' and I always feel bad when pointing out things I think can be improved. To me it feels like me saying "your doing it wrong all wrong, i'm better than you because I can point shit out and stuff" I just hope people realize that is not at all what i'm intending to say.Β

Well, I'd say it's fair. I can't be a good artist without accepting critiques and improving upon my own works. I didn't really have anything in mind when I drew her. This piece was just a practice run since I got a new graphics monitor and made a generic Pinkie pose to test it out, hence the title. XP
