Description
UPDATE 06/08/13: after six years, we finally have a decent photo and a print!Rainbow-coloured stellated truncated icosahedron. So many sheets of paper...
I worked out exactly how many squares of each colour I needed, and how it'd tone down in rainbow pattern...etc.
Took ages putting it together as I had a specific order in mind- worth it, though!
+ Tutorial !
+ 270 modules

Thank you! I didn't do it all in one go but I think it took me about 3 hours to fold all the modules, and about an hour to put it all together correctly?

Whoa, this is something else. I can see why it got a DD when you first sumbitted it. 270 modules - that's impresssive in itself! Fantastic transition of the colours, too.

Thank you so much! I don't think I'd ever spent SO long on any origami model before, so this was a breakthrough. Still warms me up looking at it ^_______^

oh my.. it's beautiful O////O
what's inside it? It'll be an awesome hanging lamp is that even a word? ._. if you able to put a lamp inside it. Pretty colors
check the tutorial.. and .. it's waaay to complicated to follow for me ;---; maybe i need to start warming up with beginner's origami..like a plane ?

Thank youuu! There's just air inside...for now. Never thought of putting a lamp inside- I'd have to take it apart a bit and then stick the light inside...
Nah nah nah, the modules are SUPER easy peasy. Try making six of them and putting them together to make a cube, you'll feel proud of yourself!

It IS possible to take apart but would be difficult to put it all together again unless you dismantle the WHOLE thing

Would you be kind enough to show the pattern of the coloring? I have too many one-colored origami pieces in my room, haha.

Hehe rainbow is much more fun...the top layer is red/pink, gradating to orange, yellow, green, a teeny bit of blue, then purple.

haha thanks. I may try making it in white first so I can calculate how much of the colors I need. Who knows.

You're welcome! Though, you might get fed up of folding those modules by the time you've made one ball...

I've got all the pieces folded but it sadly doesn't go into a ball

Oh no! Do you think you've arranged it properly? The hexagons and pentagons formed by the modules need to be in the proper places...

I think I did. I'm not too sure. I packed the pieces away for the time being since I recently started college. Maybe on a break ill try again
