It looks like a short hop. With any and all animations, try to find a real world equivalent to base it one.

Here's a horse galloping, including some position markers in the first couple of seconds. Its a good reference.

If you're looking for a jumping pose from a full sprint, you'll wanna blend this into that.

Hope this helps.

Idk if this is just me but the back legs don't look like they hit the ground?
Maybe fixing that could help it a little bit and also moving
the legs so that they look look they're running instead of just staying
in the same position??? Idkkk lol

I would say let her front legs reach back more between the back legs. If you look at horse racing you can copy how much the legs move. I would also say to extend the back legs a bit when pushing off to add more power behind her jumps, it looks like there isn't enough force to push her that far. If you don't want to move her back legs at all, make the animation in general faster

I feel like its going a bit slow...idk speed it up a bit?

Maybe in the animation the jumping part (This was if she was walking) make the time in the air shorter...

I think the torso should be lowered

1. have both hind legs visible like the front legs
2.if it's gonna be a Pegasus have her wings flap as she moves

Lust--Jade [2019-01-02 23:46:26 +0000 UTC]

I think it looks very nice, though if I were you I'd edit the hind legs a bit more so when they hit the ground they leap off and maybe make the front legs com back and the hind legs forward a bit and have them cross over each other, like have the front legs go in-between the hind legs.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

foggedmindscape [2019-01-02 23:36:42 +0000 UTC]

The hind leg needs to move more- Like when it touches the ground it needs to leap off-
There isnt really any jump in this which makes it really stiff- The head needs to move with the body as well-

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

m3d1a [2019-01-02 23:36:22 +0000 UTC]

I think it should have more frames, and the legs should be a bit more exaggerated. The front legs should go inbetween the back when at the highest point of the run, and try to exaggerate the head movement )

SlashDotPaw [2019-01-02 23:03:57 +0000 UTC]

you can observe horses running in slow motion if you want to practice running

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

OliveCow [2019-01-02 23:02:13 +0000 UTC]

It looks nice although I think you could make it look more like a run cycle if you keep the feet on the floor longer. Right now they just touch and hop back up. Make sure to have em travel

the back legs need to go a little lower

they look like if they were barely touching the ground

The back leg seems a bit shorter than the front; even when it hits the ground, it doesn’t look like it’s hitting the same ground as the front. I do this all the time, so I know it when I see it at this point

Karolina-S [2019-01-02 21:55:38 +0000 UTC]

The body needs to be like in a wave motion? Like, 'legs' down, hooves up, then the opposite.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

GardeniaSnughop [2019-01-02 21:45:32 +0000 UTC]

A little more kick with the hind legs, more curve with the front ones, and more arch in the back should make for a smoother animation. Also, for further advice, I would recommend drawing a line representing the spine so you can make a smooth connection between the back and the front

I feel like the head and neck are a little too stiff, and the body could bend slightly more. The legs look alright though!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

Star747 [2019-01-02 21:21:34 +0000 UTC]

I would suggestΒ
1. When the pony stretches outward, I would suggest steatching the front Β and back legs a little more and many moving the shoulders back a wee bit.Β
2. Try offsetting each pair of legs a little bit, so that they don’t do the same movement EXACTLY at the same time. Fore example, have the right leg move a bit befor the left. Try looking up some references from not only actually horses but ponies from the show too.Β
I hope that helped ^^ other than that, the aniemation looks great!Β

although I don't animate myself, I can help out with the anatomy a little
the legs seem to break in the front and don't fully reach the ground in the back.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

CaramelGummy [2019-01-02 21:09:56 +0000 UTC]

Her front legs should kinda bend while in midair before hitting the ground
Also when horses run all four of their legs bend and move differently, I suggest looking up 'horse run cycles'

lubeyl00 [2019-01-02 21:04:57 +0000 UTC]

its very well done synthia, just try to extend the back leg a little more on the stretched frame, so it doesnt look like its stuck in the air. also make sure one one of the legs on both pairs move before the other if you're wanting to make it look more like she's running.

i mean i can barely draw atm because im stuck on styles and none of my friends wanna help but hhhh just take my critique pls ;;

I think you need to draw eachΒ  individual leg if you want the running effect to show up more, i'd say use a reference of an animal running to see how they move their legs.

StellaGallery [2019-01-02 20:31:39 +0000 UTC]

Ok, here's the best critique i can give:
1. References
I know it's annoying and over-used, but I think it's very important to use references in art
I don't care about the anatomy, that's fine, but try to look up videos or other animations of a horse/pony running
2. Frames
Try adding or deleting some surtain frames (I really recommend smear frames, but be careful to then put it at a reasonable frame rate, any "extra" frame can mess it up. Same goes to regular animation tbh)
Scribble Kibble has wonderful videos about smear frames etc. I recommend checking her out for some advice!
www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMvJiK…
www.youtube.com/watch?v=snG8TO… (I know you probably know this one, but there's an important frame advice)

this is all i can actually critique here, the piece/animation is still WIP so i won't be really nit picky here.

it looks fine to me but that's probably cuz my anatomy sucks balls

CorruptedAnimations [2019-01-02 20:21:25 +0000 UTC]

If she's running, it should be much faster than this. The hind leg is also smaller than the front and isn't even touching the ground. my recommendation is to look at videos or gifs of real life horses/ponies running to get a better understanding.

Willow-the-Wispz [2019-01-02 20:07:56 +0000 UTC]

The body should be moving more. Like the legs are moving but the body's really stiff, like the front part should go up a bit more than the hindquarters while jumping etc.

AngeredIrken03 [2019-01-02 20:05:44 +0000 UTC]

Get rid of the middle frame where its mid-air maybe? Its in the air just a TINY bit too long, and if you get rid of the middle one (or a middle frame closer to the "about to jump" pose) itll still look smooth.
Jumping animations are hard aCK--

melodeycooper [2019-01-02 19:48:53 +0000 UTC]

The back legs are shorter than the front legs. Make a still image and scale them before animating it. I’m still learning how to animate so my opinion might not be entirely helpful so we’re learning together.

If you’re running/leaping in a certain way, you’re legs would be together in a way to make sure you don’t flail around while in the air.
