Description
Stonehenge, Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.Stonehenge is surely Britain's greatest national icon, symbolizing mystery, power and endurance. Its original purpose is unclear to us, but some have speculated that it was a temple made for the worship of ancient earth deities. It has been called an astronomical observatory for marking significant events on the prehistoric calendar. Others claim that it was a sacred site for the burial of high-ranking citizens from the societies of long ago.

James, this is an EXCELLENT shot . . . and so fortunate to have "contacts" so your picture is free from people milling around The colors are so vibrant - I love the green of the grass and the blue of the sky - just beautiful

It was out of the holiday season so the numbers around were fairly limited. Since I was born in Wiltshire I also know quite a lot of people there, " Contacts" if you will
Thank you for all your comments and favs!

I've heard its also a really fancy clock.
The whole country is pockmarked with those things from what I've heard. Ever read Uriels Machine by Christopher Knight and Robert Lomas?? It's kinda iffy in some spots and technical to a fault, but its a good read either way.
Escellent Shot.
Kinda makes me wonder how big the thud was when the pillars toppled over.

Great shot syphonvector. I went there a few years ago and have to say it was pretty stunning.
Good to see you managed to miss capturing the ugly fence they put-up around Stonehenge tho.
