Description
edit: added some more factoidshey guys younno those skeletons I was on about (www.deviantart.com/tabdabble/a… )
uh- here they are again except they brought friends
In this au, the underground is not mostly dry land, but in fact a massive underground ocean (I say ocean but it's just reservoirs of freshwater), all connected and sectioned off by labrynthine cave systems.
The water is dark, as is everything else down there.
The tall skeletons are called Hook, and Cap respectively.
They don't seem to have eyelights like the smaller one, but they also don't seem to have any trouble finding things.
Any thing.
Hook has piercings through his mental foramen (the holes in the front of the mandible), as well as around his zygomatic process (the bone loop under which the jaw hinges)
Cap seemed to take note, as he too has piercings, but across his nasal bone- looping through his eye sockets. Oh well. It's the thought that counts
Of the two, Cap seems the least natural, physically. Most notably his fused ribcage. His spine is much more flexible to accommodate this unfortunate mutation.
They are almost always silent, save for when they whisper to one another.
The small skeleton is called Smee.
-You suspect he knows more than everyone here, and has less motivation than anyone here.
He is usually sprawled across the rudimentary tiller of the boat, eye dark. You guess that he's sleeping, but the boat always seems to drift in a certain direction.
He wears a tattered sort of sash around his waist, and the gouges dragged through his skull look as though they were caused by a trident.
When 'awake,' his left eye is almost always lit with a red iris. You could swear though, that when you turn away, or look too quickly in his direction, you can see a lot of other, smaller lights in the gouge across the other eye.
His bones look much more weathered and scuffed than the others'. Almost as if he's lived a few lifetimes more than they.
He has a sort of ragged, whispery voice that doesn't sound like it's used much: As with the tall ones, he is very quiet.
All three are garbed in a combination of what looks to be authentic pirate clothing, as well as a . . . collection of items that might once have belonged to spelunkers.
For example, Cap wears a row of spelunker boot grips across one arm, Hook is bedecked in a fine array of headlamps, and Smee wears a coat that most certainly did not belong to any pirate.
They all travel in a small craft that looks more or less cobbled together from any kind of trash that can float.
Although none of them need to breathe and are thus incapable of drowning, they are all very reluctant to even touch the water.
-You wonder . . . why?
fun facts
after thinking that it'd be cool to have t̶w̶o̶ papyruses, I remembered and wondered if I'd been subconsciously inspired by Cutthroat-Jutsu 's Pappa and Russ (cursetale.tumblr.com/post/1621… ), whose names also form an entirely new one when put together

Hey np! You deserve it :’)
Bones have always been on the harder side for me to draw, but they’re so pretty and visually interesting it’s true!
