Description Okay, I apologize now for how.. not.. pretty... this tutorial looks. But, it was done for =VashTastic , who really wanted to know how to clean her cosplay wigs and reuse them.

I know, it's taken me forever to get this done, and I'm sorry it's not very pretty, but there really aren't any images that I can show you (come on - you don't need to see how to swish a wig around in water...)

I hope it helps, even a bit. Onto more interesting tutorials in the near future!

Hehe, not a problem - I know the feeling, when we learned how to do it in school, it was like "ooooh!! That helps so much!"

This is useful. I had a bad experience with wigs. We tried to spray paint one a different color cus it was fake hair and we couldn't naturally dye it. Ye-e-e-ah that didn't work so well.

Well, that's definitely good to know - I would have tried the same thing, to be honest XP

It is definitely a great way to extend the use of your wigs, so you don't have to buy a new wig for every costume Glad you like it!

I do luuuuuuv your tutorials on wigs!!

(btw... why do you say it's bad to use the kind of brush on the left... I always use it for my own hair... on my head it seems to me that it works better and it's less painful than the other type... perhaps this isn't important - the suffering - for a wig )

I dunno - I'm now trying to figure out which of the two was supposed to rip less hair out of a wig XP

I know that the padded one's are nicer for people hair, but I thought they were worse for wigs, because the hairs tend to get caught in the little spot between the pad and the plastic brush part... at least that's what's happened to mine. I might have a crappy brush, though XP

Lol, I dunno, didn't want to create confusion!

Ha! No problem - I think I'm going to go in and change it, because everyone I've talked to who had the same masters-class with the wigmaster remembers something different ... mainly because our *regular* instructor is a total flake, and doesn't remember anything, either, and then yells at us when we go "hey, didn't he say we should be doing this?..."

*sigh* Go figure XP

Eh eh eh
Well I guess one has to try out what works sometimes, apart from teachers' opinions...

this is so helpful though where do you recommend on buying the "ship and Shape comb and brush cleaner" ? this is just what i needed tho its very helpful. ^^ o and if you know and don't mind do you think you could tell me how to put in extensions. i mean you don't have to make a tutorial or anything. sorry ><

taeliac In reply to narutard94 [2007-12-31 14:54:51 +0000 UTC]

I'll definitely add where to buy in the description! Sorry! I know Sally Beauty Supply carries it, so anywhere akin to that. Their online store has it, too~

As for extensions, do you mean in your own hair, or adding more hair to a wig?

taeliac In reply to Liquidfire3 [2007-12-31 15:20:56 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah! It's especially good for really long wigs that you need to use hairspray to keep from flying all over, but don't want to get icky and matted up after a while

I can't wait to see that costume

Liquidfire3 In reply to taeliac [2007-12-31 20:33:12 +0000 UTC]

Oh good. I'm definately gonna need it then!

Thank you! I can't either!

Nope! Not a problem at all - thank you for doing that, too

I wish I had time for LJ, I'm just too lazy to keep up with it

I moderate diy_tutorials and I LOVE DA (and you!). I know there are a lot of LJers who don't use DA or know about some of the things posted, so I like to accumulate a bunch of "same topic" tutorials and link them and add the post to the memories. I update them when I find one or two (or more!) new posts (or ones that slipped my radar) on the topic.
