Here is the first of three tutorials I took pictures for a few days ago at school.This one is about how to pincurl your hair in preparation for putting on a wig. This is the longest of the three, but by far, the most important one to know. I know there are many people out there who think that you do not need to do this to your hair, but I've found that you really, really need to do this in order to have a wig that doesn't *look* like a wig when you're wearing it, and also so that it doesn't fall off.
But, on the plus side, the pincurls are very simple to do with a bit of practice!

Yeah, it's a ton of work! But, if you're wearing a wig, it's something you absolutely have to do to get it to lay right (and flat!)
I agree, tho - way more work than it's worth!! I'm not a person to style my hair... ever...

I tried that last year at NBC & it failed some-what miserably! Then again, my wigs never seem to fit me well! (Me thinks my head is too big!!

It might be because of your head size, but usually, its' just how wigs are. They never do quite fit right - they always feel a little funny (or have the wig lump in the back!)... they're always akward...

This is new to me, though I can certainly believe it would work. I'm going to have to try this next time since the front and sides of my wigs always try to fall off after an hour or two.

I sat and talked to our wigmaster (Dave Bova), and he said that this was the most essential part of wearing a wig. When I said a few people (well known cosplay people) insist that you don't need to pincurl your wig, he laughed and said "well, if you're only wearing it for a few minutes, I guess..."
It really helps make them more comfortable in the long run, too~

I remember when I was a little kid my aunt would do pincurls in my hair and make me sleep in them and when Iwoke up and the curls taken out I looked like a fuzzy cotton ball..lol.
So pincurls, good for wigs but always good by them selves..lol.

It's not too bad - it does take some practice, though. And it is 1,000x easier to do one someone else than to do on yourself
You can pincurl your hair as a styling thing, too, it's kinda cute
