Is it just me, or does everyone who has the opportunity just have to build some kind of a ship out of the now-old Aquabase Invasion set?  No, I know it's not just me.  I've seen many others.  I tried to do most of this model using just that one set, and also the lobster one from the same series, and for the most part, I succeeded.  I did use some loose parts, and also a few taken from the very old Crystal Explorer set, but if I remember correctly, just about every major piece in here was from the Aquabase Invasion.  A thing made a little more tricky by the fact that I got that set second hand and partially missing.
In some places, the model is a little delicate, but these issues couldn't be helped with the parts I have.  The front section though, even with that awesome huge bubble of a cockpit, is actually quite sturdy.  I'm still a little unhappy with the engine/sensor probe pods on the sides, as they look a little flat and simple in my opinion, and want nothing more than to come off, thanks to that pipe leading to them. overall though, I like it.

Wow, really cool. I've never built anything that big, but I've always wanted too. I like the bridge window design.

It takes a lot of practice, I can tell you that much.  The windows were the start of the whole thing.  I saw those pieces, put them together that way, and said "Now I need to build a ship to hold them like this."

Nice. I could do it, I just don't have the parts. Maybe if I took apart some of my built sets I could, but they're just to cool to destroy.

Two options there.  One: If the things you don't want to take apart are official sets, they have instructions.  If you don't have them yourself, they're online.  Take 'em apart, and rebuild 'em later.  Two: If the things you don't want to take apart are your own models, and don't have instructions, get Lego Digital Designer, build a recreation of it, and it can make you a set of instructions for it.

Or three: If they're just must-keep just to have, then... uhh... get more?

Sometimes when I want to do a customization of a set, but also want to keep the original, I find the best solution often is... get another one of the set.  fav.me/d5rg487

Dude, that's pretty sweet I love the design! And... is that an interior I spy?

It certainly is.    I have a few more pictures to post, which show the interior off a little better.

So this is an aquatic vessel right? This is pretty excellent. Do you custom order parts in specific colors, or is your collection just THAT expansive?

Man I miss my Lego collection. Alas they are on the other side of the planet from me.

I wish I could afford to just order whatever parts in whichever colour I need.  But no, this is just the result of being mostly built from a set that has a colour scheme in it already.  brickset.com/sets/7775-1/Aquab… A lot of times, the colour scheme on my models is determined by what colour of bricks is most common in my loose parts boxes.

And yes, aquatic.  But also not, because "Multi Environment" means that I couldn't decide where it should go, so I just decided it would go all of the places.  So, air and space as well.

Thanks, that's a lot of what I was going for.  It's missing a few realistic details I would have liked, but it makes do without them, I think.

Brilliant! You should post this as a project for Lego Ideas.

I don't think it has enough functionality to be made into a set.  There aren't really a lot of moving parts to it.  Maybe it could be modified for that, but not with my resources.    Thanks though.

Man this looks awesome.

Though the Multi environment part i cannot see and looks more of a warship

Taggerung1 In reply to isick16 [2016-05-13 04:38:43 +0000 UTC]

Maybe a scout ship at best.  A warship would be far more heavily armed.  Also, a warship wouldn't have a big glass bubble on the front.  Thanks though!
