Wow... I don't think I've ever seen jesus on this site - and I've been here for three years! It seems to me that DA has been getting 'darker'... It seems like half of the art you see is either sexual, depressing, or just gruesome. It's nice to see the messiah for once! Thanks, your deviation just made today a little better

There are actually a lot of Jesus paintings around DA, and not just mine I mean
I really love comments from the heart like yours. It just never ceases to brighten me when people notice how much darkness there is in the world that threatens to put out the Light! I too have noticed it and it warms me that there are still so many who are gravitating to my paintings of the Lord and His Mother.
There are also a lot of fools who say stupid things about Jesus and that too makes me furious. I love Him and I just can't stand it when He is attacked. This painting is my way of having my say that He is King of Kings, Lord of Lords and He wont EVER be defeated! Yay!

Exactly! Perfectly expressed. And I honestly say this that the way the eyes transform themselves are purely the Lord's gift, not mine. There's always a point in my work when technique and skill are left behind for the 'gift' to take over. That becomes entirely the Lord's work. Glory to Him. God bless you!

Very nice, the eyes are well-done and I like the way the hair strokes kind of blend into the background field.

Yes, I'm working on perfecting this technique for some of my larger, impasto paintings so that the lines transfer as thick impasto that kind of blends into the image and lets the eye make up the lines that have been subtley faded out. Thank you so much!

You know, whenever I look into His eyes in this picture I am immedietly reminded of a lion. The Lion of Judah triumphs!

Oh yes, I like that impression very much.
And I love this ...“Be careful not to be so open-minded that your brains fall out.” How true is that? 
And hence one of the reasons I painted this is from coming across numerous stupid and thoughtless comments on the web about how some folk think Jesus is a wimp. They have obviously never read about His life! Made me so mad I wanted to portray Him as the King for all eternity just to satisfy myself and the Lord in depicting His eternal power! I couldn't help myself and from time to time I like to depict His power and strength, not just the loving happy Jesus. He is the just judge, the One who has complete power over all evil and that is as much as part of His love as all the other aspects of Him.
