When you need someone to blame, there's seldom a better target than yourself.
So, I have this headcanon that Rarity and Sweetie's parents are super-neglectful and spend all their time traveling. About as soon as Rarity moved out, they dumped Sweetie on her and headed off into the world. So, naturally, they don't exactly see eye-to-eye on a lot of things, particularly on each other. It does explain a lot of things, especially how Sweetie supposedly lives with them but is always seen at Rarity's, and the relationship between the two. Rarity tends to view Sweetie as a chore/annoyance (pre-"Sisterhooves Social" anyway), while Sweetie basically worships the ground Rarity walks on... Probably because Rarity is the only member of their family who gives half a shit about her.
Well, that was bleak. Now I need to do something happy with the two marshmallow pones. Suggestions?
(This picture needs something, but I don't know what. And no, copious amounts of ice cream, hugs, and family counseling is not a valid answer.)

Yeah, that's prbaboly what really happened in the show. I'm sure in canon, they're the most wonderful, attentive, and loving parents you could ask for, and it's sheer coinciddence that we only see Sweetie at Rarity's place, while only seeing the parents once.
Still, the evidence doesn't seem to promising.

Hearth's Warming must be a difficult time for Rarity and Sweetie.
Composition-wise, I don't think you needed to add anything else.Β Better to focus on poor Sweetie, Rarity, and Mommy Dearest.

Probably so, although their parents probably give themselves a cruise for their "present" so at least they're gone. Still, not exactly the time for family.
Alright, well thank you! I will trust your judgement here. I think there were some lighting issues in the first version of this which I was thinking of, but that's cleared up now.

Perhaps it could do with Chief's hand in the foreground kinda hiding around the corner, but placing a hand on Sweetie belle's shoulder.
As for what to suggest afterwards, perhaps a little family meeting between Rarity and Sweetie belle, with ample hugs and love...

Maybe, but I want to make it look hopeless, and have no one realize she's there. She's hearing something she wasn't meant to, after all. But still, a good thought.

It pains to see that their parents neglect them most of the time when Rarity has a shop to run and the mother is not helping to run the shop for her when she got some royal work to do with Twilight, saving the world, etc... In the end, will their parents argue each other to the point they might divorce?

Indeed. Unless they wise up and learn to stop being such immature, selfish, and uncaring bastards, they're in for a very unhappy life. Perhaps there's someone who can talk a little sense into them. With a Gravity Hammer. Still, it's probably best for all parties if they stay away for now. Maybe Rarity can wrestle legal guardianship of Sweetie away from them.
There was originally, but given how freakishly broad Sweetie's should looked from that angle, and the fact that is was rather distracting from the scene, I removed it.

We all know that in fairy tales, mostly Cinderella, a stepmother with 2 stepsisters, now that's a tough life for Rella, until a prince loves her and moves into his castle.
Happier instead, and it's Sweetie alone so you can use more area to make the "details" look more clear.

She gets to play with dangerous alien (to them) technology, is friends with a heroic space marine, has some great friends and has adventures, and at least has a much more responsible sister. Great things are found where you least expect them.

Well, this is mostly because I"m a fan of these ships, so if you're not, that's fine, but for something happy with the two marshmallow ponies, maybe something like hanging in the park with Spike and Button Mash? Heck, maybe Master Chief too just for a nice touch.
