Description
"I've been solving YOUR little problem for five years! Maybe, for just ONCE in your life, you could solve one of mine!""P-Problem? I'm...I'm just a problem?"
When you need someone to blame, there's seldom a better target than yourself.
So, I have this headcanon that Rarity and Sweetie's parents are super-neglectful and spend all their time traveling. About as soon as Rarity moved out, they dumped Sweetie on her and headed off into the world. So, naturally, they don't exactly see eye-to-eye on a lot of things, particularly on each other. It does explain a lot of things, especially how Sweetie supposedly lives with them but is always seen at Rarity's, and the relationship between the two. Rarity tends to view Sweetie as a chore/annoyance (pre-"Sisterhooves Social" anyway), while Sweetie basically worships the ground Rarity walks on... Probably because Rarity is the only member of their family who gives half a shit about her.
Well, that was bleak. Now I need to do something happy with the two marshmallow pones. Suggestions?
(This picture needs something, but I don't know what. And no, copious amounts of ice cream, hugs, and family counseling is not a valid answer.)

That was the hope. It was kind of painful to make, to be honest. It actually is part of an ongoing comic: rarisweetichief.tumblr.com/

I like to see how John reacts to all of this? If I could make a guess, I would say that it wouldn't be pretty... And not in a "Ketchup" way, more like feeling "The wrath of the God of War" look.

If he walked in on this? Probably scoop Sweetie up and demand that Pearl leave, possibly with a gravity hammer. He's very persuasive at that point.
Then he'd ask Rarity just what the hell that was all about, and would make her open up some very ugly cans of worms about her family history.

Gravity Hammer? Heh, that's being merciful. A knife or plasmas sword on the hand... You get the idea.
I can image that, the truth finally comes out... It's quiet in the house. A few minutes later, John calmly leaves the house with Sweetie Belle to get some fresh air.
As Chief is between the door, he makes a simple remark on that he knows how it feels like, giving a little bit of his past and then walks out the door with Sweetie in his arms.
...
Now it makes me wonder... Does Chief still carry the weight of his past to this day and would it follow him to his grave?

Well he has to give her SOME chance, after all. Only sporting.
...You know, I had something else planned for this, but that... I like that, a lot. I really think I might use that instead, if you don't mind (plus I've got like three scenes with Chief carrying Sweetie I need to use, so...)
For now, it haunts him, and the quiet only makes it worse. It lets him think about it, relive it. He keeps it inside, mostly, though bits and pieces slip out rarisweetichief.tumblr.com/post/104909671926/i-dont-know-what-makes-a-man-like-that-and-im But, maybe the embodiment of generosity can give him some peace at last. Some very well-earned peace.

Ha! If you wanna give someone a sporting, then use a shotgun! No wait, even better! A Spartan Laser! Ha! I like to see someone dodge that gun and live to tell the tale!
Go ahead, my friend. It's nice to see that just because the big space warrior is known for his or her violate pass... Doesn't mean that they are not heartless and they know what it's like to lose someone close to them.
Heck! The space marines of the Ultramarines, Salamanders, and Space Wolves know how it feels.
Maybe some day... But I'll say oneΒ thing... It's going to be hard to bring in some light in a person, who had a life thatΒ isΒ filled with nothing more then darkness their whole life...

So many choices! And we can't forget sticky grenades. Which to choose, which to choose...
Doing it now! I'm liking it quite a bit more than my original idea, plus I get to throw in their family history. Any chance for legitimate exposition is a good one. Yeah, we need more Captain Titus's among the Space Marines. They're the best of humanity, so they should act like it! That's why you've got to love the Salamanders - they remember the "human" in "superhuman."
Even a little spark can banish the darkness, and he's got two rather bright ones now.

So many choices, so little time.
Well, I did think of two ideas if you are interested. Just send me a note if want to know.
And don't forget Uriel Ventris, captain of the 4th company of the Ultramarines. He is one of my favorite characters in the 40k world, next to Ciaphas Cain and Jurgen.

I most certainly am interested! Anything I can do with those two is a good thing.
Oh yeah, can't forget Cain. He's one of my favorite characters period, 40K or not. You've got to love a Commissar who's first response isn't to shoot half his troops.

It's the innocents who suffer the most. Hopefully someone can talk some sense into them. Perhaps a certain 7-foot-tall armored spaceman?

HectorNY In reply to TahuBlade7 [2015-01-06 02:04:24 +0000 UTC]
Yes, he could do the trick. The question is how.
π: 0 β©: 1
TahuBlade7 In reply to HectorNY [2015-01-06 02:11:37 +0000 UTC]
Well he was ferociously loyal to the other Spartans before their unfortunate demises, so he's probably have something to say about someone willingly abandon their family.
And when the giant man with an even bigger hammer speaks, people tend to listen.
I'm thinking of having him unwittingly call them out later on. Maybe he'd accidentally reveal that, say, Sweetie doesn't refer to her dad as "dad", just "Magnus." It could break the illusion they've got. What do you think?

HectorNY In reply to TahuBlade7 [2015-01-06 02:28:20 +0000 UTC]
Hard to say especially since the father is not as "Sophisticated" as you would think. So it may be easier to put some sense into him.Β

Hopefully it doesn't result in Sweetie Belle doing a runaway. The last thing you'd want is her feeling a guilt trip when she has nothing to be guilty of.

TahuBlade7 In reply to HectorNY [2015-01-06 02:57:36 +0000 UTC]
I think it will, actually. I can't decide if she should run off to the clubhouse and have Chief and Rarity try to talk her down... Or let her run off inot Everfree and run into someone far less pleasant. Someone very, very tall, slender even, with a fondness for those lost in his woods.
Chief could use a little target practice, after all.
π: 0 β©: 1
HectorNY In reply to TahuBlade7 [2015-01-06 03:24:35 +0000 UTC]
If she goes to the Everfree she could head for Zecora as well. Unless she runs into Slender on her way to Zecora.

TahuBlade7 In reply to HectorNY [2015-01-06 04:10:09 +0000 UTC]
Basically, Chief comes in, scoops up Sweetie, forces Pearl on her way, and sits down with Rarity to figure out just what that was all about. After taking it all in, he says he knows how that feels and takes Sweetie to get some fresh air.
Once he gets back and they've all had a chance to take it all in, he see's Rarity on the couch, clearly after a few glasses of wine. They have a little heart-to-heart about feeling like the worst person in the world, and things look a little brighter for them all.
