The Human Condition Collection - Part OneI took this shot with my old 1000d, one of the first shots i took. I've always wanted to do something with it, so decided to finally do an edit and see how it looks.
Statement wise, its pretty self explanatory. I think seeing the horrific shots coming from the oil spill in Louisiana, (Here's a link to some images Ive seen, [link] ) Subconsciously influenced me to start working on a collection based around pollution, human interference, etc... A lot of the themes I've already worked with. So expect more of the same. I still have never finished a collection and been satisfied with it, so hopefully this one will come together.
I'm sorry for my absence from DA as of late. I've had a lot on, and a lot of distractions. It's really irritated me since Ive just brought such an incredible camera and lens, I really need to get out with it more. But expect a lot more submissions from now on. I will be shooting a lot. Its not the camera its the photographer at the end of the day. Even though im now using a 7D and L series lenses, I know most of my shots could still be pulled off on my 1000d, same goes for most professionals etc.. Id say. Its got to a level where a consumer DSLR is capable of mind blowing images in the right hands.

The smoke almost looks like a dark angel, I can sort of see a face, an arm, and the wings. (Note I am known for seeing things places randomly).
But that aside the contrast is very nice, the darkness of it nicely conveys your message.

I think more shots like this need to be shown to people. The recent oil spill is absolutely horrifying, and photos like this show with amazing clarity just what we are doing to this planet. Great shot!

i like the statement you're saying by this photo. we, human being, has destroyed our environment, and maybe i am contributing it too.
anyhow, i think *i am amateur, so my opinion might be biased* the picture would look more powerful, if you can close up the smoke. but that's just my amateur opinion. you have great shot of course. hope you don't mind about it.
