I tried a ton of backgrounds, but nothing was working! I am reassuring myself it's just because of the wacky pose, and that the one I settled on is fine. But I am not convinced.
So yeah. How many times have you seen Absol drawn from THIS side of the head? Not many, because I have scoured the intarweb in search of such pictures. So I tested myself to see if I could do it, and I think I'm happy. I still have no clue whether or not the head scythe is supposed to go vertically or horizontally...
I like Absol, so I'm glad I finally drew a pic of him. Too bad about the whole background thing. >_<

His head scythe baffles my mind too but you pulled it off nice! This guys got attitude, man. The foreshadowingis perfect here. Menacing.I for one am terrified.
The background looks fine! Normally the green wouldn't work for the tone of the picture but because he somehow mends adorableness with evil, it suits it quite fine.

I think the backround looks lovely. It clashes(in a good way) with absol's whole dark/semi-evil thing, making it seems brighter. Good contrast, basicly~

i admire your ambition, when i draw something new, or relatively new... not many things are more thrilling than trying new things, your own way
when i first drew it, or... among the many times i have, i usually draw it from that angle as often as possible... wither that or the other side...
a challenge for yourself is always healthy
(not to mention yours is a helluvalot better than the other entry at the top of the list when typing in "absol" on the search bar :])
