Description
Species Name: Amethystine python, Scrub pythonMorelia amethistina
Average Adult Size: 10-15 feet.
Diet: Birds, fruit bats, rats, possums, and other small animals.
Habitat: Indonesia, Australia and Papua New Guinea bushland that's warm and humid.
Shot: Taken at the San Diego Zoo.
Comments: 'Amethystine' comes from the reflective sheen off the scales. These are very common pythons in Indo-Australia. They are the largest snakes found in Australia.
