You can find the video on my YouTube channel!

This is probably the question I get asked the most, many people seem to have troubles getting the cake crumbs right so here's the video where I show how I make the texture! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask me I tried to use the best photo I could so that you can see the texture I'm teaching you to do (size: 2 cm ~ 0.8 inches long). Here's my full cake tutorial: [link]

Some of you that follow me on YouTube probably saw this before, I actually uploaded it some months ago but there was a problem with the music I chose so I re-uploaded the video. However, I never announced here that I had posted it, so most of you probably have never seen it XD so yay! you can watch it now

As with all my other tutorials, you're free to use my techniques as much as you want and even sell the things you do with them, please link back so that more people can learn how to do these things or say that you were "Inspired by Talty", that's all I'm asking for. However, YOU CAN NOT to claim my techniques as your own, YOU CAN NOT to re-distribute my tutorials in any way with anyone, use them for any purpose, translate them, pack them or re-post them anywhere else. Thanks

Panda-Pong [2012-10-05 22:37:21 +0000 UTC]

I'm using this technique, too, when I am trying to make some cakes. I learned it earlier from your cake tutorial.
Talty, thank you for sharing all these things with us. It's always a pleasure, because you explain things so clearly and well arranged. I can always learn from it.

But well, there is a question I have. I hope this doesn't bother you.
I use fimo soft as clay. It is reeeeally very soft. Your cakes in the video seemed to be a little harder. It's not that easy for me to touch the little cake without deforming it, though I have gently fingers.
What clay are you using? Do you have any experience with fimo soft? If you do, can you say if these clays are less soft than fimo soft? Or is there a trick you use before texturing?
So many questions, sorry.

Talty In reply to Panda-Pong [2012-10-31 03:16:35 +0000 UTC]

Sorry for the late reply, but I'm so happy that my techniques and tutorials have helped you

I'm using Sculpey III which is also very soft, some people find it useful to freeze the clay to make it more sturdy. I did that in the beginning but I don't need to anymore. I leave the clay to sit for a couple of days so I think that may help too, it does get a bit harder.

And I'm sorry for the late reply, but feel free to ask questions whenever

Panda-Pong In reply to Talty [2012-10-31 11:48:33 +0000 UTC]

It's okay! You don't need to apologize. I thought the whole time that you were busy with your adorable little kitten, hihi. ♥
Also it must be really time consuming to answer all those comments and questions you get, so it is okay!

Well, thank you! I think I am going to try that the next time. I'm sure it will work. But there is still a question I have.
Do you cut the cake pieces and let them sit a while before you texture them or do you let them sit before the whole process of making the cakes?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Talty In reply to Panda-Pong [2012-11-01 19:53:47 +0000 UTC]

You were right, he's keeping me busy XD he needs lots of attention, but it's so worth it he's grown into an adorable little kitty. And yes I also happen to get a lot of comments, but I try to answer them all

Well let's see, I cut my cake with the round cutter, freeze it to have sharp cuts with the blade, cut the slices, let them sit for a couple of days and then texture them. That's what I do
