Description
Shopping in unusual places can get you unusual treasures. This is the back of a plate I found at Pier1. It had a very thin finish on it. I cut through the original finish to expose the paler wood. The blue eye is tung oil.I also shop at IKEA.
Cartoon: Lora Irish, [link]
Plate: Pier One. I think it is palm wood.
Finish: The brown is the original finish on the plate. It was then sealed with clear polyurethane.
Date: June 2006.

Great attention to detail. This would be a lovely piece to hang up on the wall or something!

i bet it was...im gonna try carving one day...its on my list of things to do before i die...and about ur comment on the miscat message...i agree with u that woodwork should get more attention because u DO deserve it...and maybe if u cant get that attention and appreciation here, you could find another website that specializes in your kind of artwork...idn its just an idea i had when i was reading what other people had to say about the article...i hate categorizing artwork but somehow it needs to be done...

Just keep the bandaids handy, it took 4 years for me to stop cutting myself.
