I'm starting to think Inklings can change how solid they are.........

And that they're really genetically modified humans...

The major plot twist towards the end of an anime I was watching a few days ago. Genetically modified humans turned into squids capable of traveling through space dew to their flexible skeletal structures enabling them to withstand great amounts of pressure under certain conditions. Long story short the non-mod humans were against mutation so the metasquid-humans fought the non-mod humans which led to a galactic war that waged for centuries. Pretty cool show, I'd recommend it.

I still remain convinced that the Rito came from the Gerudos and there was just a bit of cross pollination. Why? Well the Rito have rather similar clothing, a tan-ish colour, and Garudas are a mythological type of bird which is pretty darned close to Gerudo. Sure, I'm probably wrong, but that's my theory.

Zoras evolving makes sense because they we're fresh water based. Not to mention that having fish people would make having an underwater ruins of hyrule kinda awkward.

davidalex In reply to 101zombieattak [2015-08-13 03:37:23 +0000 UTC]

I would've liked if some zora's or underwzater creatures still existed and treated hyrule as their empire only for the farse to shatter in pieces when the king of red lions takes control of the castle (and seeing them use pots as royal crowns or something of the sort, would've been funny)

WingedBlueShell [2015-08-11 17:40:13 +0000 UTC]

The Rito evolved, because the waters in WindWaker were too dangerous to inhabit. However, the skies were moderately safe. In the sea, the Zora were likely wiped out by Gyorgs, Octoroks and the like, not to mention Ganondorf`s forces. The water is literally inhabitable except for maybe a few safe spots we never get to see where Zora might still reside.

The Inklings evolved, because the waters were so polluted by mankind before its passing that it became hightly corrosive. Squishy beings, such as squids and other sea-life, dissolve easily in the aggressive water full of chemicals and so on and thus developed to walk the land like the human kind once did.

I felt like I finally needed to clear this stuff up.

Athosthepup In reply to WingedBlueShell [2015-08-24 02:06:36 +0000 UTC]

If I'm not mistaken, another reason the Zora became the Rito was because the Great Sea had no fish, therefore nothing to eat. Someone, I believe Ganondorf himself, said that it was a "Fishless Sea."

Looked it up to make sure, Ganon says this before you fight Puppet Ganon at the end of Wind Waker:

"I can see this girl's (Zelda's) dreams... Oceans... Oceans... Oceans as far as the eye can see. They are vast seas... None can swim across them... they yield no fish to catch..."

Here's the scene, in case my word isn't enough: youtu.be/_tM2EQbctU0?t=42s

MikePhantom In reply to WingedBlueShell [2015-08-11 21:05:31 +0000 UTC]

actualy the rito came to be because the godesses DIDN'T want the zora to find the cursed and seal away hyrule so they took away their ways of living in water. And the wings are given by the guardian dragon.

actually it has more to do with the ability to swim in ink: the inklings "desolve" into a liquid like matter, thus swimming in water while probably focusing to blop into squid form instantly, splats them. however they don't die

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WingedBlueShell In reply to MikePhantom [2015-08-12 03:41:25 +0000 UTC]

Did you hear that from officials? It sounds plausible.

The Inklings are entirely composed of liquid, those giving them certain qualities that thick ink has, which sadly includes dissolving entirely in water, or dying before so.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MikePhantom In reply to WingedBlueShell [2015-08-12 09:21:46 +0000 UTC]

the rito are explained in game. people should bother reading falvor texts.

and yours is not even supported in any capacity in game. there is no mention of polluted waters. only that they rose when probably north and southpole melted (and suddenly refroze somehow since we could choose between them in the EU splatfest) also you can see an inkling literaly Β floating away after beeing splatted and get put back to spawn. So its not killign them and since they have advertisments for drink and vneding machines i jsut put two and two together.

they CAN swim, BUT they need to keep themself solid as possible. to wash themselfs(or would like inkopolis stinking of dry squid?) and to swim and drink. its only if you are in the heat of battle of the turf wars and you consatnly swap back and forth between squid and kid, you get weak towards water.

i also think i read it somewhere but i cant remember anymore where

...Well, it definitely LOOK sincere...and for what it's worth, your headcanon on Splatoon assuredly sounds plausible. But then that leaves the matter of vertebrates and other sea animals. How come we don't see any of them in Inkopolis? Why just squids, octopi, and jellyfish?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WingedBlueShell In reply to TheSuperSnorlax [2015-08-12 03:39:38 +0000 UTC]

We also have a horsehoe crab, a shrimp as well as a clownfish and anemone. Sea critters exist. We just don`t see them because they`re probably not allowed into the Capital of Inkopolis or they are just shoved away by Inkling/Jellyfish population.

...That's what I meant. Just take the concept of Balloon Trip, give it a fresh coat of paint, and tweak the concept ever so slightly, like what they did for Nintendo Land. You know that bit where you can pick up a box and have to carry it to the checkpoint? It sounds like you want this thing to be similar to what I'm describing here...
