I do wonder if Inkling do die. I think the ghost they become when defeated is their true self and their physical body is a construct created from ink to allow them to interact with the physical world.

It's also because many Zora were fresh water fish, they're not salt water, there's only rare ones who were salt water and none of them were friendly, so to survive in a flooded world they'd need to evolve into something that can avoid salt water, AKA: birds.Β

the gods forced them to evolve into the birds so they wouldnt find the flooded hyrule. so the only way to get there is through the tower of the gods.

personally i never liked the idea the AQUATIC SEA PEOPLE became avians. yeah they were freshwater fish but couldn't they adapt to the salt water? idk, Hylian evolution magic or something

it's possible for there to be freshwater and salt water variety of a single breed, not sure what fish breed exactly but there should be one somewhere i'm sure... but yes, there were saltwater Zora in Majora's Mask which complicates this evolution path more; why grow wings when you have saltwater cousins doing just fine in the same general situation?

I still hold to my fan theory that Ritos didn't evolve *exclusively* from Zoras, but from all different kinds of people in Hyrule, since the only one we know for sure is descended from Zoras is Medli. This is all to explain why that one Rito postmaster looks so familiar, of course.

I know Zoras were originally fresh water beings, but Bull Sharks-a salt water animal- can adapt to fresh water....
