Inklings didn't evolve due to the rising water, they evolved due to the extinction of humans.

Y'know, there's a theory going around that Inklings can control the solubility of their bodies, as in, they can make themselves solid so they can survive in water.

the zoras evolving into birds, that is like, the embodiment of Nintendo Logic, either that or the one that really gets me:
what I assume is the kokiri, evolved into the god dang koroks, as in something human evolved INTO A TREE!
its just like, confusing even for Nintendo logic...in my opinion anyway, someone might think that makes sense, but serious,
evolving from a human-ish thing into a plant...Nintendo Logic.

Hyrule's Zora are freshwater creatures, they could not survive in a salty, fishless sea.Β there was that, and something about not wanting anyone to discover Hyrule by accident.Β

Yeah, I get half of what Nintendo was getting at with inklings. The disaster that caused the world to flood wiped out all the creatures that lived on land, making land completely free of predators. So it would be only natural that the sea creatures that survived would have an easier time surviving if they evolved to be on land. However them evolving to the point where they can't go back into the water... yeah.Β

Then again its sounds a lot like what happens to creatures that are evolved though forced genetic mutation. Their DNA is so unstable that under the right conditions they dissolve.
