Β Wow. What a bitch. I mean, this could be funny, if it were two boys or two girls, but this, uh...yeah: this doesn't work because it's non-reciprocal. For The Three Stooges to be funny, the Stooges have to be able to smack each other. This applies to any comedy duo. I don't want to turn this into a PC thing (god forbid, that's like the kiss of death for comedy), but...name a single comedic duo that has lasting appeal where one player hits and the other can't possibly hit back.Β

The nature of her smacking him and it being right or wrong wasn't really my concern. It's whether it's funny. Physical abuse is all well and good in comedy, so long as its potentially reciprocal. There's nothing funny about a bully just slapping someone around; it's only funny if the reason someone's being slapped around is because of their incompetence (like, they fucked up); or their passivity (they're a push over); or their obliviousness (they just weren't paying attention)---things like that.
Warner Bros. was brilliant at this kind of slap stick.
