Description
It's been a while, but I finally returned to the 1860's.Β The Welsh barmaid from the previous picture returns to snatch victory from a new opponent, but at a cost.Commissioned by
The previous image from this setting.Β A warning, it's primitive: fav.me/d6ssx5o

The barmaid here seems a bit heftier than in the previous drawing.

Yeah I didn't know how to draw thicker bodies back then.

I love this! it's a very powerful image of how some women settled differences and even made money (mostly ladies of the night) with a fistic contest. I've always been intrigued with bare knuckle boxing. My hero is Elizabeth Stokes who was a champion of her time. Here's something you may enjoy...

The winner looks much bigger in the hips and chest than she does in the fight picture. This is not a complaint as I like to see bigger women in fight pictures and stories. Great job and hereβs to hoping for more of her!

Nice! Old-time boxing was something else. If you're interested, you might want to check out the essays of the great A. J. Liebling, collected in his book, The Sweet Science.Β Β A quote from his introduction, possibly apropos:
It is through Jack OβBrien, theΒ Arbiter Elegantiarum Philadelphiae, that I trace my rapport with the historic past through the laying-on of hands. He hit me, for pedagogical example, and he had been hit by the great Bob Fitzsimmons, from whom he won the light-heavyweight title in 1906. Jack had a scar to show for it. Fitzsimmons had been hit by Corbett, Corbett by John L. Sullivan, he by Paddy Ryan, with the bare knuckles, and Ryan by Joe Goss, his predecessor, who as a young man had felt the fist of the great Jem Mace. It is a great thrill to feel that all that separates you from the early Victorians is a series of punches on the nose. I wonder if Professor Toynbee is as intimately attuned to his sources. The Sweet Science is joined onto the past like a manβs arm to his shoulder. - A.J. Leibling

I really like that!Β Hell of a quote.Β Hell of a concept.Β Maybe I should do a "who-punched-who" chart leading all the way from here to the modern lineup!

Syl will be ever so pissed if the women in her family had racks. xD Hopefully the Welsh barmaid doesn't end up missing that tooth too much. The blood smears on the feet, hip, and knuckles are outstanding. Also those are gonna be some shiners for the winner!

Kickin' piece Mik! A classic punch out.
Great detail here showing the aftermath of what had to be an old jolly of a bruiser, fresh from the scratch. Loving the barmaid's newly minted gap tooth smile

Indeed
Also, like the tiny details you added like the missing tooth, or the beaten girls dirty bare feet.
