Description
The Crippled Hachette lay beneath its camouflaged netting. Repair efforts were ongoing, while the temporarily stranded NATO forces on the terraformed moon of 54 Hydrae d dig in. For the time being, their strategy of attacking directly had been eschewed in favor of sneak attacks aimed at capturing enemy personnel and equipment.The "Shiks" captured from the riverside thus far hadn't been much help, but the effort had been far from fruitless. The weapons had given Martel a chance to examine their impressive technology, and the commandeered Kasparov rations had proven wildly popular among the troops. A plus, considering the Hachette's supply would be strained nearly to the limit before the cavalry came.

Loving how the gal with the radio's carrying a FAMAS. Even though the FAMAS is starting to fall out of favor, nobody told her! XDD She loves hers and won't let her superiors confiscate it due to it being 'obsolete'. XDD Meanwhile it looks like the gal second from the right, who's lighting the officer's cigarette, she's packing a full-length M16 and no scope? Just iron sights for her as a sharpshooter? XDD

Yeah, most of this unit carries the FA-MAS. 609 favors the M16 that she trained with originally. One of these days I'll show Delon's Parker-hale M82 in more detail.
Seems outdated because it is. Deliberate anachronisms are all over the place in this setting.

I wonder if there's room in this 'verse of yours for a unit either way behind on the times, or virtually every soldier is a crack shot, a unit full of sharpshooters, and they carry M1 Garands or M14's? They are definitely NOT the unit to send into an urban zone and go house to house. No, this would be a unit used to make roads impassible if the enemy's using unarmored or only lightly-armored vehicles thanks to the boys taking lethal pot shots at the driver of every vehicle that attempts to pass and then picking off whoever's still alive after the vehicle crashes. If a supply convoy is all made up of unarmored or lightly armored vehicles, this unit would be perfect for crack-shooting the drivers and so eliminating supply chains, or taking out the control unit if the unarmored supply vehicles are autonomous.

I've seen your other works of Shabazik's shiks, and how much detail you put into them. A couple of questions: Is Golana yelling into a radio? At first I thought she had a cigar between her fingers. And is Lace 609 lighting Cote's cigarette?

This one came out extremely well. Your coloring keeps getting better piece by piece. Can't really explain it, but the vibrancy seems to make the girls feel more solid... alive even.

Kinda similar. They're a hand-picked special ops unit from all over NATO, operating under French command. Primarily French-speaking and using a mixture of French, American, and Canadian equipment.
As for Golana specifically, her origins are somewhat mysterious.

Mmm, tough ladies get their time to show off their stuff. Loving pretty much everything about this image, and the scale of the Hachette lander section is excellently conveyed here. I love seeing these massive artificial monuments to technology, framed against the people who buzz around the ground like ants.
I hope their reinforcements don't get delayed or re-routed for some reason. But who knows what can happen in the depths of space, it's a cold universe out there...

Your lessons and advice have been well-taken. Jolly cooperation's boosted my stuff well beyond where it would have been working strictly solo! I suspect these engineering marvels will continue to be represented better and better.

They are! I am reminded of the Battle of the Bulge during WWII when the 101'st airborne was cut off, and a few of the men decided to steal some German rations... apparently they were so bad that the men threw them away and declared themselves feeling sorry fo the Germans who had nothing else to eat!
I suppose the Shiks feel the same about the Kasparov forces... the shiks are being hunted down one by one in a vicious guerilla war against a dangerous foe with superior training (if technically inferior arms), but at least the Shiks have good food to eat!
