Description
just a little dohicky. about one inch per side, byzantine weavewords of advice on prettier closures are very welcome- i know a couple i just got lazy on... otherwise, is it just cause i got machine cut rings? i don't mind the look, but if it's technique, i wanna get better

hehe, it wasn't too complicated, really. i'm pretty sure there are "better" ways of making byzantine sheet, but i like the flexibility of the way i did it. it's just 16 little sections of two units of byzantine all linked together with single rings twas fun

i've never tried byzantine. but you really ecouraged me so if I make just 6 square sheets, I will be able to build a cube out of them?

LOL with some tinkering, yep. if you get into it and realize it's not intuitive how to put them all together, i can try and get some pictures of the assembly

Since you have to open the rings a little to start with any way. You could file the two ends with a barrett needle file. After a while it becomes very quick and the ends should meet flush.
What metal did you use?
Cool project.

ahhh, and i have jewellers files at home, huzzah. that's clever
's etched aluminum, though after banging it around in the bottom of my bag for a while, it's now shiny, hehe
and thank you

nice work ^^
as for closing the rings on things like this (ornaments) you could just cheat and slide the rings around so the joins are hidden on the inside of the cube

Uh ... cut on the bias? Would that make the gaps easier to close?
It's very cubicle.

well, that's the thing... saw cut rings don't have the |< type close, 's more ||. but i bought my rings in bulk, pre machine cut...so i'm wondering if there are any tricks to make the closure prettier without having to pay more for better cuts...

i think you're probably correct. i have only used saw cut rings once or twice, and they were wonderful all my others are machine cut or hand cut, and they hold together well enough but aren't as pretty.
your best bet would be to try the saw cut rings :/
