This is beautiful, the colors and the glowing effect of her magic are incredible to look at. The ONLY thing I could critique would be that there should also technically be a glow effect on her horn, but still, this is really great. Major points to you.

Great pic, but if Celetia's horn isn't glowing with magic, who's holding the paper?

Two things...the letter is being levitated by magic but celestias horn isnt glowing. Second, her horn looks like its bending a little bit. Still, even if you notice these, this work is awesome!

When I first started watching the show, I assumed that any princess character, would be the most offensive part of a girls cartoon show. Wrong again I eventually found out. She's the best cartoon princess out there. Certainly better than any of those Disney bimbos. And no I do not count Belle as a princess considering she spends most of her time as a normal every day peasant woman. She is good. And the girl from that Brave movie was also good. Other than that though, give me Celestia any day.

I agree; for some reason, compared to the Disney princesses, Celestia's character just feels sorta... natural, for lack of a better term. Like unlike any other princess you see in Disney or other places, Celestia's personality isn't seen as only a ruler of a kingdom, but she's more of a mother figure to her subjects. I dunno, it's sorta hard to explain.

CedarWoods In reply to Tarantad0 [2013-07-15 06:06:46 +0000 UTC]
I know what you mean. I think the reason Celestia is so appealing, is that unlike many other queens (Celestia is technically the queen, but since princess sells better they had to lower her to that), Celestia is not evil.
I agree with Bronies when they ponder about Celestia's dark secrets, and I really think it would be interesting if we found out more about them in future secrets.
But dark secrets or not, she is ultimately a good female ruler.
Good work Lauren.

so i am at an artistic loss to how you do these pics, i try so freaking hard to get the colors to look like that on my pictures and they NEVER do!? *sigh* sure say its experience but there has to be someone out there with a tutorial or SOMETHING!
note Im not bashing you in any way, just had a rough day and celestia looks so REAL whereas mine don't....kind hit home that imma noob when it comes to Photoshop.

Don't worry, mate; I'm pretty sure with some practice, you can command photoshop to your will! As with the whole color thing, I suggest looking up coloring tutorials here on good ol' deviantART, since there is a big abundance of them all around.
And sorry about the rough day; We all have our ups and downs from time to time.

Um...sure yeah lets call it that...i have an adesso, one of the originals, the screen is about six inches across, and it is just about dead on me. I figured looking at your art that youd have somthing alongvthose lines, heh, as your "lines" are far cleaner then mine. No doubt when you paint you use your whole arm yes? I cant really say that i can, as six inches isnt much to work with. I had a bamboo once but for everything i did to get it, the bloody pen stopped working three days after i bought and i tried Everthing in the book to fix it. Finally i just said curse it and threw it out...about a week later i was gifted the adesso.

Damn, sounds harsh. Tablets are a bit unfair when it comes to quality over price (like the cheaper you buy it for, the suckier the quality becomes) and frankly it becomes a strain on trying to save money for the higher quality ones. I can see you really like to draw, even with your predicament, which I give you props for, but you should totally save up money to get a decent tablet, preferably an Intuos2 or 3. The prices for both of them are a bit higher than $100, but they do the job well.

Oh, that's pretty sad to hear... On the bright side, at least you came out relatively unharmed, and you've learned something from it, right? Gotta be a little optimistic about it, is all. Don't worry, mate; you saved that much once, you can always save it again.
