I love this song.
I think that it really speaks about today's society, which is astounding because it was written somewhere in the vicinity of 1963. Anyways, while practising singing this song, I couldn't wipe the image from my head of Imbolc from Zodiac~Books~12, waking up at night after a precognative vision and weeping from the sheer terror or what might be.
Imbolc forsees the possible futures. The knowledge of which enables you to select choices and paths that you might not have otherwise taken, and thus shape your own destiny... It is for this useful talent that Samhain uses her in his plan to restore Nature and force mankind to draw together and improve. Although Samhain does not like Imbolc, and although she does not respect Samhain's intellect or relationship with beltane - a mutual friend - the two do work together. Samhain because he needs her, and Imbolc because she believes she can make the world better by steering Samhain's plans.
So, now, into the lyrics:
