Description Sept 2007, Bic on Xerox Paper

And then he went crazy and drew his hand over and over...

For anyone who carries through with the lessons, feel free to post them, I won't cry foul for copying, etc. So long as you don't post it as your own tutorial - and giving credit is always nice.

So much to take in. But this is possibly one of the best tutorials about hands out here.

thanks. I think the format of the tut is good, but I need better drawings. Especially things like the bones and veins. They're just guesswork, based on drawings from Hogarth, who I've heard wasn't that accurate afterall. I'll look into ordering some models to draw from.

By training. At the moment I'm teaching English language learners in Europe. There's not much work out there for artists these days.

Yeah. I may do a new one soon. It kinda depends though. Getting the flash stuff together is the real problem. I don't know how much I remember!

wow it helped alot, would you mind if i drew my own version of one of the pics in the tutorial?

do you do any other tutorials, i would like to see one about ears, they confuse me

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TArthurSmith In reply to cynical-chemical [2008-05-27 05:52:50 +0000 UTC]

There was a good tut that had some ear sketches, I think by KChen on conceptart.org

Look that up, under the Crit forum and then tutorial-subforum. It's around there somewhere. Mostly just do some observational drawings.

You can copy any of this so long as you link me although it might be better to just draw your own hand in the same position.

I have one tutorial on drawing women, and a couple on oil pastels.

lol. I want to photo iva wearing boots, as feet are even harder with them on. I need to add some more sketches to this. Did you see my tutorial for women?

I just want to say thank you for a very usefull tutorial! You must have put a lot of work into this.

I don't realy feel that ther's something missing from this. From this point on it should be the readers dedication to draw better that should do the rest of the job.

Nice job

Rotscale In reply to ??? [2007-11-07 21:57:17 +0000 UTC]

This is by far the most in depth and well discussed "How to" on hands on DA, and for the web for that matter. I have seen many many books on how to draw, and hands, are by far one of the hardest things to realistically draw.

Your knowledge is almost scary. This is so amazing.
Well done Well done

TArthurSmith In reply to Rotscale [2007-11-08 00:23:11 +0000 UTC]

the funny thing is I left out some stuff I need to add. Like each finger has a ball socket that allows for rotation... Thanks alot, though, your comment's the main reason I work so hard to do these tutorials. It's a kind of vindication for me.

amazing tutorial, very well covered. It's so nice to see an anatomy tutorial that actually shows the underlying bone and muscle structure in detail. I'm really impressed with how you made notes of the appearance of veins and natural grooves in the hand. I know many people (myself included) seem to forget these things

👍: 0 ⏩: 1
