Maybe the spiral shellder that attach to Slowbro is not the same type of shellder that evolves into cloyster but a separate thing entirely and part of the Slowbro. Just they have the same name.

More likely Shellder got sick at having to taste a Slowpoke and is now trying to get off.

Well, Slowpoke doesn't change that much, aside form some OS updates and the ability to walk on two legs and be useful, so maybe all that evolutionary energy goes to Shellder?

My guess is the Shellder we See live near the Surface like Mussels, and deeper down Their are Spiral Shelder that are more aggressive
Or Literally Shellder just changes when it bites Slowpokes tail, You have to remember this is the pokemon universe.
Where Things like Trapinch evolve into Flygon.

Thank you! I never could believe that it was a shellder! Even after that one episode where slowpoke dipped its tail in the water and started saying Slowbro when it pulled its tail out and that thing was attached to it!

All shown in the anime. The shellder evolves when the slowpoke does. Sort of a mutual symbiosis.

Yeah
Technically The Slowbro Spiral shell is the Closest thing to a Regular evolution A Wild Shellder Usually gets.
Cloysters don't Appear in the Wild to often, Same as pokemon like Raichu, and Poliwrath, since they Require Stones.

Actually, Cloyster and other stone evolved Pokemon can found in the wild in Pokemon BW/B2W2. (Although, that's the ONLY region where you can be able to catch fully evolved Pokemon)

Like I said They Don't Appear too often
1 gen out of 6 isn't Often.
But Shellders Spiral form is still technically it's Normal Evolution, cause it can happen Naturally in every region Slowpoke is found.

Yeah, but I'd like to point out that in Slowbro's mega evolution, Slowbro didn't really change that much but it looked more like the Shellder mega evolved than the Slowbro did, so I'm guessing that a mega Cloyster could happen in the next Pokemon game?Β

Eh who knows
I really don't think Stone Induced Evolvers will mega evolve.
Now Yes Gallade evolves via a Dawn Stone, However Gallade is basically a Male Gardevoir, It's very possible that Galladeite may very well be Just Gardevoirite, but Gallade trainers just Call it Galladeite because a Gallade is using it.
Or it is a slightly Altered Form of Gallade it.
Similar to how Charizard has Two Different Mega stones
The Ralts Family does aswell But the Requirements only differ because of Gallades Slightly Altered DNA.
Since we don't exactly know how Mega stones are given their Specific Traits we really can't answer this question.

BlueBoy333 In reply to Zeusthefox [2015-09-15 04:08:53 +0000 UTC]
Gallade isn't a male Gardevoir. Gardevoirs can be males and females. Though you could be right about the Galladeite being the same as a Gardevoirite. In X and Y, at the end of the postgame, Professor Sycamore did say he had a theory that the stones that evolve certain Pokemon are mega stones. Also, in the Delta episode of ORAS, the mega stones actually originated as meteorites and Rayquaza eats the meteorites to mega evolve, so by using Β all of that logic, the stones that evolve Pokemon and the mega stones that mega evolve Pokemon are actually meteorites. (Or maybe they're just powerful stones that could evolve and/or mega evolve Pokemon.)

Yes I Know Gardevoir Can be Male or Female, meaning GardevoirIte works on both genders.
However Exposing a Male Kirlia to a Dawn Stone triggers it's evolution early, Kirlia's Body begins to change But the Dawn Stones Energy causes a Mutation that Gives The Gardevoir a New Body, Thus Creating Gallade, Which Technically is a Male Gardevoir but Has Mutated.
Also You have over looked somthing.
Mega Stones were created by the Ultimate Weapon's Energy Mutating Evolution Stones.

Nope Actually The Venom from Shellder has Seeped into Slowkings Brain unlocking his hidden Potential and Boosting his Mental capacity through the Roof.
In Other words, The Dopy pokemon just became smart.

actually.. it is explained in the anime series c: everybody knows that, i guess ? shellder "attacks" slowpoke so it can travel on the ground and leave the sea. and slowpoke is able to stand on two feet. so they both evolve and are happy together. but.. i'd rather catch a slowking hahaΒ Β Β

i think the concept is that shellder and slowpoke both transform in their own way which make them one pokemon, hence why the evolution looks so different

It appears that the Shelder evolves as well... actually, the Shelder shows more evolution than the Slowpoke/Slowbro itself...

True, and according to the Pokedex, If you remove a Shellder from a Slowbro, it reverts to a Slowpoke.

Phoenix Wright: OBJECTION! Slowpoke evolves by... Level. just level. It just needs to be level 37. The same as some other Pokemon, but we dont say Medicham s' hat is a Gulpin, that Banette s' broken tooth is a Solrock, that Dusclops' bandages is a Gardevoir, that Toxicroak s' claws is a Skorupi, that Carracosta s' chest plate is a Krookodile, that Archeops' headscales is a Scolipede, that Beartic s' beard is a Cryogonal, ... that's 7 other pokemon that evolve in the same level as Slowdudes. I'll say it upon my team (p.s. its HACKED) : Arceus, Mewtwo, Lucario, Umbreon, Charizard, and Garchomp. (that is Phos' team not mine.)

poke-shapeshifter13 [2012-08-13 03:31:00 +0000 UTC]
the reason why shellder looks different when on a slowbro is because of how the evolution affects the shellder

Ok so remember my last fake smart alec somment? Wel this is a real one. lololol. Professer oak was trying to figure out why the shellder went from a clamped shell to a spiral shell. After ash and brock and misty helped them out (with a little help from team rocket), they figured out that shellder sucks (ew) nutrients out of slowpoke's tail and evolves with the slowpoke. When the shellder bit down, it inspired the slowpoke to stand, like a reflex. So it helped both of them. Don't believe me? I have a video link.
