Description This is the first time in a while I didn't go in and use some graphical balancing to clean up my art. I used to much light shading that I didn't want to loose, so I apologize if this looks slightly grayed or smudged in spots.

The idea struck me from the fact I have 2 friends who have Avatars who are always wearing a latex suit (Vikki Vixen and Weirdseal). So the idea of what sort of clothing one wears over it was being discussed with myself and Weirdseal at one point, and I suggested something simple, like just a sweater. My friend couldn't envision it, but the idea stuck with me, so in the end I did this. A nice warm baggy sweater over the snug fitting latex. To me it's a contrast of not just materials and "shine" or even colors, but of form. Latex clings to every curve and fold, while a loose sweater like that all but envelops you in formless wrinkles and folks.

Honestly I love how this one came out.

Lessons learned -Getting the hands and hair at the collar was a bit difficult. Also there's something wrong with this picture I cannot put my finger on, I THINK with the arms.

Oh wow now I think this should be a new outfit for her. rubber plus sweaters equals LOVE...

What kind of material are we talking for the sweater but i'm thinking wool would be out but what if it is?

I'd recommend using a heavy cotton personally. Wool tends to be scratchy, and I'm not sure exactly how well that would work on real latex. Could actually damage it or something. Cotton wouldn't run that risk to my knowledge.

As for the outfit, thanks. I really like how it came out.

I understand but i'm more of a tight fitting sweater and nice cashmere feel or itchier and scratchier the better. I can see where this might get turned into a straitjacket.

I like the idea.
Personally, I'd probably just go with a nice long leather coat. But I can see the sweater working very well, especially for Tasha. She looks very warm and comfy, of course that could be the latex. ^_^

I really like this pic. Much like the sweater, there's a warmth and fluffiness here that just feels right. I want to jump into the picture and give her a hug.

That's the sort of reaction I was trying for. That layer of kinkiness with a layer of just "suggly" type warmth. perfect for a chilly day.

I love multiple layering in latex, but I also enjoy wearing casual, loose clothing over my rubberskin as well (T-shirts and leg warmers for example). I see nothing strange about it because the rubber really is my skin for all intents and purposes. Sweaters I'm not sure about as that would create a strong static electrical field with ordinary latex, but I agree it does look nice - and comfy. : )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TCPolecat7 In reply to rubbervixen [2011-01-25 11:35:19 +0000 UTC]

Well Rubber/Latex is a grounding agent (it's completely non-conductive. We used it in the electronic's shops to stand on to prevent accidental static discharge and to minimize the risk of getting zapped ourselves), thus static literally would have a hard time existing for the wearer. And if properly slicked up, I would imagine the shifting layers would feel nice as well.

rubbervixen In reply to TCPolecat7 [2011-01-26 01:26:11 +0000 UTC]

You're right that rubber is non-conductive. That's why static charge builds up, because it doesn't allow excess charges to equalize (thus preventing cute skunkettes working in electronics shops from being shocked). Static builds up when insulators (like plastics and rubber) are rubbed, such as when you rub a balloon repeatedly on your clothing (or slide a woolly sweater over a rubbered body). I wore a turtleneck over my suit one winter and quickly wound up with mad scientist hair. : )

TCPolecat7 In reply to rubbervixen [2011-01-26 01:58:04 +0000 UTC]

Interesting, I didn't think about that aspect of it. I figured the insulating effect would've prevented it entirely. Guess I was wrong. O.o

Regardless, you're certainly right about it being cute and appealing. I also have to agree with the scenario you've set up with BnGJessie above. : )

I look forward to the day materials science gives us latex that's easy and comfortable to wear without losing the attributes that make it fun and sexy. Mixing and matching it with ordinary wardrobe items would surely yield some interesting combinations.

Ah you just wanna get all squeakie with people. But thank you, that sort of loose warm clothing on a cool winter's night always puts me in that frame of mind. Probably comes form living in a house with a working fireplace that would always see use at least once over the winter months.

Spray on latex. Then the world will be perfect.

Yeah, the idea of tight revealing hiding under bulky concealing.... It is a very enticing idea.
Sort of the reason why i had more a thing for Velma than Daphne way back when, something this picture reminds me of. Thank you. /bow

No arguement there. At a casual glance and before I explained someone actually asked if I was doing a furry Velma.

looks great i cant see anything wrong with it, as for the hands there fine, if anything i know most sweaters envelop most of the hands to the fingers for the snug look so maybe thats it ^^

anyways great work i could see her putting on sweat pants too just incase anyone comes knocking but its a good combo ^

TCPolecat7 In reply to grimmhelm [2011-01-24 21:46:18 +0000 UTC]

Aye, you could but sweat pants on too, but I never cared for them, and they always struck me as very un-feminine. But the bulky sweater? Yeah, that seemed just right, and still left plenty of latex on display to show off the contrast.

yup, though i'd only wear a combination like that around fall or early spring, otherwise the sweater would be way too hot and the latex bottom would be too cold

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TCPolecat7 In reply to sordcooper2 [2011-01-24 22:59:26 +0000 UTC]

I think that would depend on how heavy the latex is.

Not wise to wear much latex in the summer either. it doesn't breathe, thus sweat can't evaporate....

*taps chin* It looks great luv, I hear what you're saying about something being off. I'm thinking it's the hands. They look small, the arms perhaps too short as well.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TCPolecat7 In reply to Corwyn-Talia [2011-01-24 21:47:06 +0000 UTC]

That's where I was thinking the problem was too, but I can't put my finger on WHY, since they are all technically sized properly (Of course "technically" doesn't always make it look right. )

- Polecat

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Corwyn-Talia In reply to TCPolecat7 [2011-01-25 00:08:01 +0000 UTC]

Well, her right hand is too small, and feels 'flat' sorta. Perhaps it's more the pose is off with the hands. When pulling on a sweater or big shirt, I use two fingers & thumb of each hand to make the fabric fall around the neck right.

And on a second look, I think the hair starts too far back given her head is angled downwards relative to us. Too much forehead area makes the eye off.

TCPolecat7 In reply to Corwyn-Talia [2011-01-25 00:41:36 +0000 UTC]

Tasha always did have a bit more forehead, but maybe. As for the hands, possibly. I know it's "right" technically, but it's not looking right to me either.

Pirtnac In reply to TCPolecat7 [2011-01-25 22:12:44 +0000 UTC]

I'd say this is pretty high on the awesome factor. Note that cloth against rubber will generate some serious static, and Tasha here has an extra layer of fur below that. Her tail may be extra fluffy after moving around.

As for what may be off, it could have to do with shoulders. We can't clearly see them, we can see a hint of the "other half" of the arm behind the forearm as a hint of the bottom edge of the sweater. The mind could fill in the blanks by assuming the thickness of the garment between elbow and shoulder is roughly equal to the forearm, with the person's actual arm going through the center. It may then look like the shoulder joint is a good bit below where it should be, when the bit of material we see is really at the armpit, the widest point for the material. It may not really be off, just perspective making it feel odd.

Also, looking in the mirror I can see my shoulders in the same pose from eye level. The view here looks to be from chest level, holding a mirror at that height I can still see my shoulders wearing a t-shirt. Something this fluffy could obscure that, but it would be close. Perhaps some tactical scrunching of the forearm material could give a hint to shoulder height. Possibly the right arm, since that side of her body is slightly higher up?

All in all, looks good, technically probably spot on. I think the hands are good, they're just next to hidden bits so the eye is drawn to them when filling in of the blanks.
