Description
It wasn't too long after the Hissi joined the Galactic Confederation that an attempt at starting "Maid schools" and selling it to the Hissi came into being. Given the Hissi's massive appetite for new and feminine attire, maid uniforms quickly caught on with the populace. This lead to the estaablishment of 2 competing mindsets for schools. (Aside note: Most "Maid schools" don't teach much about cleaning, in case the readers did not already ascertain that).First founded was the "Marquis School for Maids", a school that over-emphasized the sexual aspects of maids and spent much of the teachings on how to maintain that aura of sensuality and encourage lust in your patron and acting as a sort of eye-candy (if not more).
Close behind it was the "Kamiya School of Maidenly Etiquette", a school that focused more on the emotional well being of the patron, and acting as a sort confidant and therapist. This also emphasized more "cute" appearances, nearing doll-like.
These two schools immediately started at it with each other,
the Kamiya finding the Marquis students to be nothing more then sexual ornaments and bimbos, while the Marquis view their rivals as petty children who feign innocence to act cute. The competing views were often the cause of loud arguments withing the public forum. Hissi Maids of both schools were highly sought after... by anyone but Hissi. The mature femininty of the Marquis school graduates often found themselves in the employ as "arm candy" by wealthy businessmen who wanted a traveling companion. The Kamiya school Graduates found a slightly younger forum in the universal square, often finding awkward men just out of schooling and just entering "real life" to be their clients, as well as some disasterous attempts at having them act as nannies for younger children.
This "debate" is jokingly referred to by many Hissi as the "War of the Maids", as the two competing ideals don't seem able to coexist even in the same room with each other.
In the shadow of this "conflict" arouse a third school for Maids on Hissi, this one native to the Hissi themselves. "Sylss School for Maids". Despite the simple name, this school and it's graduates quickly became the most sought after individuals for the native Hissians. This is because the grads actually WORKED. The previous 2 schools focused on everything but the actual aspects of being a maid. This school focused on light cleaning, cooking, acting as a personal assistant, confidant, and the like. Graduates are rigurously tested, trained, and molded in ways that are sometimes likened to military training. Only a bare 3rd of those who enter this school graduate. On their native planet, these individuals are highly sought ofter by powerful figures in culture, entertainment, and politics for their savvy and discretion. Off planet they are considered the near perfect assistant. And due to more modest dressing, they don't tend to cause nearly the level of stress the others do in marriages and relationships with others. The Sylss often consider the other Maid types as lazy, as if they end up together the Sylss Maid always ends up doing the actual work.
In the end, the Marquis and Kamiya students are very numerous, but there are so many now that they have to fiercely compete for any position (often with each other). The Sylss students are, in contrast, very much in demand and paid top credit for their skills, tho they are far less numerous the competition to employ an individual graduate is often fierce.

Lessons Learned: I should've planned the far arms better when I drew this, it was awkward to position them after I drew in the main elements. I might need to solidify a better proportion set for the Hissi, this pic seemed to fluctuate the proportions a little, do a few odd effects.

What's next? An underground school that teaches a finer point to picking locks, stealing from vaults and tying up and gagging the maids to make them helpless?Β
*Thinks a bit*
You know...that's not a bad idea actually!Β
*Goes off to open said school*

I'm sure one could learn at multiple schools, but considering how little they get along, such a thing would be extremely rare.

The 3rd Hissi is from the 3rd school mentioned in the write-up.
And Hissi's are not poisonous. Their fangs are mostly vestigal, they're there for looks, but too weak to do any actual "work".

Can't afford a graduate from the Sylss School, and don't need a toy or playmate?
Offer to hire a maid who almost graduated (the closer the better) on the condition they save some of their paycheck to go back to school.
There would still be fewer of them than full graduates from either of the other two schools, and they would be working and studying instead of arguing or posing.
So you have graduates from the other two schools bothering you, stating they are better because they actually have the "full" credentials? Not a problem: they'll get the message soon enough when you explain they will only get room & board without pay, as you gag them, bind them to a mop, and hand a crop to your Sylss "almost-maid".
That stunt, however, might backfire if you try it on a Marquis maid, as the name implies they are trained to "earn" punishment by messing up. Better try it on a Kamiya maid instead, and tell the Marquis graduate you already have two maids and don't need another.

Heh, amusing reasoning, but potentially over-thinking it. However I will note that I think the idea of hiring "near-graduates" for a reduced pay-level is possible. As for training the other schools, I am not sure how well that would work.

I actually haven't seen that. I chose marquis cause 1: it sounded French (And I used a more classic "French Maid" outfit) and 2: it hinted at the BDSM influence.
