Description This is a new version of --> [link] I had to re-pose the mech. So it's not really exactly the same. I also changed the materials on it. I like this version better myself.

You know what I've always wondered? They can make them invisible, they can make them camoflauged...and yet they can never do anything about the fact that these mult-ton behemoths make the loudest damn noise in the world when they walk? You'd think all that money they spend making them for war, they'd think about stealth too

TDBK In reply to DarkZoneGraphics [2008-02-15 06:07:16 +0000 UTC]

Haha! Actually, some ideas being thrown around are counter sound dampening. It would be a speaker system that absorbs the noise by adding natural noise from the surrounding and white noise. It would not get rid of the vibrations though. One way to find these is with ground sensing sonar.

Too awesome!! I hope to model like that after enough practice...

TDBK In reply to ChrisDayo [2008-02-02 03:48:27 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! Well, I'm sure you'll do a lot of cool stuff after you learn to use the program you choose. The most important thing is to have fun learning it. At first it can be really tedious and really annoying. That is an understatement actually. I've known people that started learning to model but then quit because of the tediousness of modeling.

My best advice..

BE PATIENT, HAVE FUN and do not be afraid to MAKE MISTAKES. Mistakes are the best way to learn.

Thanx man. Well i guess fortunately I do know the program....Now the sad part is I kinda forgot all the modeling stuff I learned from the uber beginner classes so it's like I'm start all over kinda....I couldn't believe I forgot alot of the basic stuff I learned...I felt like I epically failed today...
Well I'm turning over a new leaf and I'm going to modle like crazy. The first thing I'm doing is a head so I should be posting that in a week or 2.

TDBK In reply to Parnasus [2005-07-29 12:43:37 +0000 UTC]

Well thank you!! Good to meet you!

When it comes to texturing.. UV mapping is the way to go. And I'm not gonna lie. It's pretty hard to do.. on high poly models especially. You have to unwrap your mesh correctly and paint on it with a paint program. I use photoshop to paint the UV map. I use some stock textures like metals. I use layers over layers to make it look better. Also it's good to make your uv map texture pretty big to get good detail. Bigger then 1024x1024 if you can. If you use wings3d you can use the auto uv feature that is part of the program. It is pretty hard to use though. I use it but I am looking for something that could be easier to use. Maybe even purchase a program just for UV mapping. Not much help I know but I'm not sure what program your using.

TDBK In reply to DEZIN [2005-07-17 01:31:24 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I use wings 3d --> [link] for modeling and Vue 5 Esprit for rendering and scene creation [link]
