Description
One thing that has been bothering me lately is how it feel like Sega is choosing their artist/writers off of popularity and not talent. Now, I'm not saying that these people in question don't have talent, but I feel as though there could have been more better alternatives to them, especially with the people who are currently writing the games...It still bothers me, because someone is popular, shouldn't determine there place on a comic book or artist or even social media manager. Popularity doesn't equal talent, and I don't quite think people in this fandom know that...

What's funny is Pontaff wasn't even a popular writer. Yeah he work on Happy Tree Friends and it was popular for a time but it wasn't anything ground breaking and fact it's consider one of the worst shows on Youtube. They work on reboot for one episode that the creator hated it SO much that they rewrote the whole thing minus one line and their popularity is still hot garbage since nobody in or out of the Sonic series like their writing except for those with very low standards when it come to Sonic stories/writing.

Agreed if I were in that position I'd be background checking the work of people thoroughly to make sure they are qualified. That's a real big issue you see not only in comics but gaming to as sometimes a popular at the time voice actor will be hired for a role and do it poorly (Looking at you Destiny)

Yeah, like I understand there are amazing fan fiction writers out there and stuff, but you still need at least some experience in the writing world. I was told by someone on a form that in order to become a better writer, you need to make your own characters and own stories (non-fan fiction), which was funny since they were a Flynn fan, and not trying to bash Flynn, I know you support him as well, but I don't recall Flynn ever doing any original stories before he got to Archie.

I wouldn't say that's much a stipulation if that's what you're trying to get at. Penders is also another example as while his characters maybe considered original they're still in the realm of an already existing property which is Sonic related. I've also seen nothing from Penders up until his first work on Issue 11 of Sonic The Hedgehog. If you have any evidence then I'd like to see it but it seems both Flynn and Penders have little to nothing before working with Archie and Pender's only claim is characters that are essentially expies of Knuckles and each other.

I don't see any proof the earliest he started with Archie was Sonic The Hedgehog #11. Sure he isn't a fan fiction artist but I don't see any of his own work besides The Lara Su Chronicles

Your message is valid, but you have a typo in your poster. You should have "they're" where you currently have "there."
I'm only pointing this out because anyone critiquing the quality of another work of art should make sure they don't leave the door open for people to critique them back.
