I really like the concept behind Mecha Musume. It's almost like a pinup but rather than highlight lurid features, the designs are more technical influenced by liveries or transportation the character represents.The Strike Witches series is the most widely known example of Second world war era Mecha Musume. However, as nicely drawn out as it is, I don't really like it at all. I wouldn't consider other mecha musume to relate to this one particular series, and this sketch definitely should not be related as well. I'm not trying to be negative, but my drawing just isn't relative.It's just a cool style that I decided to adapt to my favorite aircraft as a foray into the genre.

Anyway, as I mentioned, the aircraft design is based on the British Boulton Paul Defiant, my favorite aircraft. It was an ill-fated design because they were very vulnerable to attack during the day, but was well suited during the war as a night fighter and for air-sea rescues. If anything, the Defiant is an underdog compared to her sisters the much glorified Spitfire and Hurricane. That's probably why I like it so much. It's a black sheep of its relatives in the Royal Air Force.

I call her Vera.
