Description
Of floes air and fire, and creative kundalini. But as with the entire Element series, it's a see-what-your-subconscious-reflects type of abstract painting. This is a gift painting for my beloved Gemini best friend, Adam Goguen. You better damn well take care of yourself in Africa my friend! (hugs!)

Painting

The painting took me almost an entire weekend of total working time to complete. I serenipitously prepped the base texture months ago, but once I discovered my best friend would be in MA for all of a week, the coloring with acrylic and jacquard pearls took the better part of a weekend, a worthwhile and small effort. In the end I definitely had a statement worthy of a gift and of inclusion in the "Element" series.

Medium/texture: Modeling paste worked with saran wrap
Color: Liquitex Acrylic high concentrate pigments
Highlights (blue, green & gold): Jacquard pearl powders

Photography

This image is a digital HDR image made by combining 3 images at slightly different settings/exposures. As such there was no need to adjust for levels or contrast.

base: f8 1/10 second iso 80 -.3 exp
top: f8 1/6 second +.3 exp
mid: f8 1/10 second iso 80 0 exposure
