Description
Finally had some R 'n R with Mass Effect 2 the last few days, so I was inspired to finally settle on my OC/sona for Mass Effect. I've been waffling between human, turian, and salarian for a long time now, and despite my best efforts to convince myself otherwise, I always end up back on salarians as the best species that represents me (which is why my OC is more like a ME-sona than a stand-alone character).I hit a wall in canon with the salarian females and all, so I decided to include a rough background for the character that I can identify with personally. That detail is the fact that, though I am not a feminist, I do find the stereotypical female gender role in society really infuriating. I have nothing against kids, but I'm not a baby person, so I sort of amplified that part of me in this character. Of course when one encounters some kind of canon limitation like this, it's easy to slip into the Mary-Sue rut, so I did my best to avoid something cliche' or unbelievable. I hate Sues, ugh.
Anyway, so here she is, finally finished. I spent an oddly long time on this, probably a good 6 hours cuz I nitpicked and designed the whole outfit and picked colors and such in one fell swoop. Pardon my bragging, but I am rather surprised and proud of this >.< I hardly expected it to turn out this well. It's basically exactly what I pictured in my mind.
Anyway, I was pissed off tonight because I screwed up Tali's loyalty mission so she's mad at me. Then I realized I could save her loyalty for after I get Legion (I think you get 2 chances before .. y'know... IT happens), and I want to bring Legion on the Flotilla, so... I'm gonna have to start over a ways back and blah de blah de blah. However, I watched the leaked beta for ME3 and got all teary at one point, and then nosebled at another, and then just generally peed my pants over how awesome it is. Okay all of that was untrue except the teary part. They are just getting so DAMN good at games now. Jeeze louise, who needs movies nowadays, eh?
Wow rambling. XD
"Enjoy!" -Mordin (during combat)
PS: If you know what fictional language "Ilthwain" was inspired from, I'll give you a llama or something, if I can.
EDIT: I am also aware of the typo in "Badasses" in the text, but I am way to lazy to go fix that.

Techta In reply to GuiltyFlare [2012-03-24 05:55:28 +0000 UTC]
I don't think it works that way with salarians.
"The salarians are amphibian haplo-diploid egg-layers; unfertilized eggs produce males and fertilized eggs produce females. Once a year, a salarian female will lay a clutch of dozens of eggs. Social rules prevent all but a fraction from being fertilized. As a result, 90% of the species is male."
So females have to reproduce whether they want to or not. Hence her decision to be sterile.

That's a very clever design, I love the outfit!

Thank you so much! The outfit was my biggest worry >.< I still can barely believe I came up with something. Now to learn how to do weapons. I actually really want to do more ME OC's so I might take commissions sometime.

Well, you've got great vision as an artist. The outfit really fits the aesthetic from the games. Keep up the fine work! I'm eager to see what Salarian women will look like in the game.
PS- John Adams? Remarkable man. My future daughter is being named after Abigail Adams. AND you like Transformers? Holy crap, you've got impeccable taste.

Thank you!
(Yes, Adams is my favorite historical figure ever. ^.^ Truly a great man! And Abby was just as great or greater. A past Government teacher once said that if he could choose anyone to be president right now, he'd pick Abigail. And YESSS, Transformers is my fav franchise, followed closely by Star Trek and the Alien saga.)

Yeah, I understand. I could never tell if their "horns" were actually horns or just part of the way they hear or something. I like the way they look so I just left them. Same with turians, their fringes are so cool, but if I had a female turian OC I'd def take the fringe off because of the whole "bird" parallel. I think salarians are amphibious and i dont think there is too much difference other than size between male and female.
I guess we'll find out when they introduce salarian females [hopefully] in the game officially! I might have to edit this after we find out XD
Thanks for the view!

You're most likely to find them in Illium's missions like Samara's recruitment or Miranda's loyalty. Make sure all but the salarians are killed, and you'll still hear female screaming.

Perhaps. There were a LOT of screaming females in the Ilium missions; but I figured it was those Eclipse sisters.

Well, when the guys at the salarian's bachelor party argue over what the asari looks like, the turian mentions the head fringe, which I take to mean the sculpted skin in their scalp.
