Description
Yep, the first picture of 2011 is fan art. like it really matters. A picture is a picture, doesn't matter when it was done or uploaded...ANYWHO.
This kind of... became huge. I dunno why. But it, oddly, doesn't feel very big. Maybe because I took several days to do it, and never really worked on it for, say, more than 3 hours at a time. Maybe because there's so much red and black that colouring wasn't a big deal. I dunno. Just doesn't seem big...
If you were to say to me "Goodness, Tam, the shading here appears to be quite strange." I would reply "You are indeed correct, sir." Y'see, first is was gonna be back-lit because of how the BG turned out, but it looked... really bad. So then I decided to use those little light spots as well, light sources. (So those little lines of turquoise-y light at character's sides and such) this of course means some characters have multiple light sources... Protip: Don't do this. It's very weird.
But it's all good.
I just realized I completely forgot to do shine.
...
WHATEVER.
ANYWHO again
This is virtually every character from a obscure little PC game called The Path. It's a horror type game based on the old story of Little Red Riding Hood. The six girls are the Red sisters, who of course have to go to Grandmother's house in the middle of the forest, and they must stay on the path.
In order from left to right (also by age): Robin, Rose, Ginger, Ruby, Carmen, Scarlet. The last girl is The Girl in White, or Forest Girl. She doesn't actually have a name, and isn't related to the Red sisters. (...probably.)
Behind each of them (minus Girl in White, again) is their "wolf." As you can see, Robin's is the only one whose wolf is actually a wolf (technically it's more like a werewolf but shush) and her design is closest to tradition Riding Hoods, soooo... I made Ruby's wolf a lot creepier than he looks in-game ._. GiW's is... well, a spoiler. But I couldn't leave her out D: Besides, everything is so hard to figure out in this game that it's sort of hard to spoil anything out of context. Even IN context... well, yeah. Confusing.
Anyway. The point of the game is to, ironically, go off the path. You can explore the forest and find items and places like a bathtub and an armchair or an abandoned playground and a graveyard. Once you leave the path, though, you can't get back. Though if you stand in one place for long enough, the Girl in White will come get you and lead you back to the path. You can also find her in random areas near items and such, and get her to take you back.
The thing about the game, though, is it's... not much of a game. It's more like... I dunno really. It's very artsy, and relies a lot on the player to come up with stuff. For instance after every wolf encounter, you go back to grandma's house and it's suddenly become a mindfuck dimension full of metaphorical imagery, but all the clues about what it's all alluding to are very subtle. There are several theories surrounding each girl as a result.
So there is no real "story." (Or at least, I doubt the creators are going to tell us the real meanings behind everything. It's more fun when it's a mystery, anyway.) The only dialogue is the thoughts from the girls about the items you pick up, places you go, and stuff you interact with. There aren't really any enemies (besides the wolves, arguably) but it's very good at being atmospheric and creepy. I had to set all the graphics to the lowest cause my PC is shit, but it was still super pretty and really sucked me in. (until I forgot to play it for months...)
I'm honestly not sure why I actually babbled that much at you guys. I'd say I really want more people to play it, but... I do but I... don't?
I don't know, I'm just very confused on my opinion of the game. I enjoyed it, but my feelings about it are just "meh." It's like... consciously, I just go "It's pretty and well thought out, but... meh." and subconsciously I'm a;; "This is though-provoking and deep and really really interesting." but I can't get all excited about it.
I can't even properly tell you who my favourite character is. There some sort of struggle between Ruby and Scarlet going on there. I like Ruby's design but when I finally got around to playing her, her personality threw me off a bit, but something about her got under my skin, so to speak. And Scarlet was like, the first one I played, and for the first hour or so (I took a really long time looking for items OTL;; ) I found her boring and strict, but then I found certain items, and her wolf, and her Grandmother's house... Then after a little theorizing of my own and a lot of looking online (as much as I love these types of games and stuff that you're supposed to figure out your own ending, I'm really crap at it.) I started to really, really like. And really feel sorry for her as a result.
I SHOULD STOP NOW OR I NEVER WILL.
WELL IN ANY CASE... IT'S GOTTA BE GOOD IF I ACTUALLY DREW FAN ART, RIGHT?
Anyway... Check it out, if it sounds like your cup of tea. There's videos of all the wolf encounters on Youtube and such like that if you're not really sure about playing it, too.
In fact, just try watching this video. Gets repetitive in the second half, but still good.
I'M DONE NOW.

Danger can hide behind many masks...
The Mask of Culture...
The Mask of Experience...
A Handsome mask...
a Playful Mask...
And a Spiritual Mask...
...But when Danger does not hide his true face...The Innocents and Naive, should be most cautious.

Robin's wofl is pretty scary with all of the noises going on afterwards.
I don't think this is SUPPOSE to be that scary of a horror game, but it is dark. I know they were aiming for that.

Also, Scarlet's wolf IS male, just that he look feminine lol. IMO you made him look better than the one on the game.
GiW I think is all of the girls combined into one because when you go into grandma's room, you see her picture on the wall above the lady. Back to the reason, GiW is probably wiser and mature because she learned her lesson that the girls separately learned on their own. Plus, she leads them back to the path and being as much of a help.
When she visit the grandmother after all the girls 'matured and grew up', the lady probably can now rest peacefully knowing that the 6 sisters learned their lesson, and probably asked the GiW to kill her (which explain the blood on her clothes).

Such an awesome portrait of them all!
Robin's wolf is the scariest, and Carmen's wolf is disturbing. Her story made me sad since I kinda know some people like Carmen.

** SPOILER ALERT **
Do you believe the each of the different girls' house resemble a different death they each experience?
For example, Robin's house was very, very red. And at the end there were flashes of pictures showing her bloody.
Also, her dialogue implied that she was a very naive and trusting girl. Could her wolf and house been a literal representation that she was mauled by some wild animal?

It's been a long time, but for the majority of the houses, 'death' was always my first reaction. After reading online opinions my own got kind of skewed, but the ones that I still take more as literal 'Wolf killed Red' are definitely Robin's, Ruby's, and Carmen's. That Robin was indeed mauled, and Ruby and Carmen were murdered by the guys they found. Ruby's even moreso since he's dragging that rolled up carpet thing that most definitely looks to be hiding a corpse when you first see him.
At this point I just sort of see the merit to every theory and haven't really decided on which I personally think is 'right' or the 'best'. I'd have to play it again.

I agree with all of your theories except Ruby. I think since the male was dragging a rolled up carpet, and Ruby still undeniably saw him doing so, yet still sat with him comfortably tells me that she just wants to fit in. She reluctantly took the cigarette even though he was obviously very dangerous, and her house had a crashed car in a gymnasium. This was the only thing in the whole game I took literally.
I think somebody pressured her into getting into a vehicle with somebody who was under the influence, and they crashed, and this would also explain the leg brace.
I think Carmen might've had consensual sex with her wolf, but when the male noticed how young she was, murdered her after. In the files of the game is a sound file called Campsitesexsounds, so I think that'll also explain that.
I loved your theories

There should totally be a fanfiction/movie about this (either about the events of the game, or the events that the game is a metaphor to). Or a survival-horror game. In fact I'd be happy with an anything about this.

I really love how you got all their personalities down so well! The wolves look really creepy as well.
I know how you feel about the game- I love the concept and artwork but it's just sooooo slow. If the girls moved faster it would be so much better. I never made them explore every bit of the forest because it took forever to make them walk anywhere.
