I know its not finished, but thats all I had time for in my 10 hour exam (I know I work really slowly!) and then my art teacher seemed to think I would ruin it if I finished the neck and he banned me from doing any more...
Meh.

We had a choice from the exam board of such boring, incredibly uninspiring choices for me as 'line', 'lonely rooms', etc... Can't really remember now!

One small question: How big is this in real that you achieved such detail in just 10 hours?

i think this is sort of A5 size - maybe a bit smaller. i get bored if i try to do detail on a big drawing - so most of my drawings are actually really small! apart from my avatar drawing which is A4, but most of the rest are A5

Beautiful work! You did an outstanding job of showing the beauty and power of this magnificent animal. Too bad you weren't able to finish it. I kind of disagree with your teacher. I don't think it would have ruined the drawing at all by finishing the neck, to me it's missing the piece of the puzzle, so to speak. You did gorgeous job on the eyes and great job on the detail of the fur.

ahh i needed to leave another comment.... do u press hard with your pencils? or do you do ALOT of soft layers? id love to use this technique! i always have some white on the paper, but yours looks like it can jump off the screen. TEACH ME YOUR WISDOM. Haha

What sort of color pencils do you use? (Brand), and how do you use them..like soft or hard marks??

the packet says: 'staedtler great britain (noris club) lead diameter 3mm'
and i suppose i use the pencils quite softly and do a sort of base coat, then go over a bit harder to show the direction of the fur etc. In the centre of the forehead where there are really dark black marks i pressed quite hard to make it strong colours. Is that what you meant?

Uh huh! I use Prismacolors, but i haven't done anything with pencils in a while. I tend to push down really hard, and sometimes use a paint thinner to blend the pencils with a Q-tip because Prismas are oil based and can do that. Amazing work, btw.
