Description Pen and ink.
13x 10 inches

Final edition to my "Red Lantern" series. It tells the traditional Japanese folk story of the Yuki-Onna (or Snow Woman). In this last scene we see the Yuki-Onna disolving into mist and disapeering like a crying of the wind.

The whole series was closely modled on the style of Japanese woodblock prints called Ukiyo-e.

This is such a nice style, where can I find more of it?

I love the combination of isometric with a more free form perspective. I think it would be cool in a computer game.

The only thing I don't like is the way the figure is depicted in the smoke. The representational style doesn't seem to fit with the more realistic style of the rest of the picture - maybe if the smoke were partly transparent it would look better.

Interesting thoughts. I had never even thought of that way of showing her in the smoke.

As to the style ... I dont know. I found most of my inspiration in Ukiyo-e woodblocks, and I guess the style is my own. I just adapted what I admired most from the prints and then created in a different media.

Thanks for the comment.

Absolutely love it !
Great detail and yet so simple.
The mood is perfect for a Japanese folk lore.
Can almost see myself sitting in the hut, at the fireplace, listening to the village elders' stories.

I think so. Its not a very well known tale, but interesting in its parallels to vampire mythology. Thanks for the comment
